We had great active bands in the mainstream (especially the ones that are very active in playing in bars) till 2010-2011 where its the bands that felt the blow. Most of the people here "appreciate" foreign songs and that translates into consumption of music as well. Record labels began pulling out selling physical cds just because people aren't buying them as much as they did (with TH-cam etc being present). Like you've mentioned in your reply to fordfocusonme, I never liked watching our local variety shows because nowadays, they're just singing foreign songs, remixes or the typical pop/love song chucked out by a handful of the same old artists.
