I have just upgraded from a Winchester nitro piston break barrel to a FX M4 impact with a 800mm barrel, Alpex 4K lrf scope Mainly walk and stalk as well as shooting from a vehicle . Hope I have made the right choice . Cheers for all the vids
My passion is airgun so what ever information regarding pcp it helps a lot to me... especially your channel Mat have a tons of information for pcp. .... thanks
I use a 300mm epic two .25 cal. I prefer using a short barrel with heavy pellet and let energy do the work, it may not work for everyone but it works for me within my range of needs
I’m sure if you’re looking at the FXDRS PRO you would already know this, but you don’t exactly have to buy that rifle you can get a 700 mm FXDRS and put it in a Delta force chassis or a saber tactical aftermarket chassis if you want to compete in “precision rifle or if you just wanna rigid well built chassis that’s something to consider but you can only get the mdt elite chassis by buying the FX drs pro.. And with the pro you’ll get the 30moa pic rail, SHP Plenum, slug power kit & match grade trigger. vs a stock drs you’ll have to upgrade that stuff and I think you might have trouble getting that match trigger huma does say they have it but I don’t know but it’s essentially a FX Boss trigger so if you have one of those it might fit. So maybe it’s worth just buying the rifle straight out like I did it’s a really nice rifle I just wish it came with the elite butt stock instead of the premier GEN2 version.. but over all it’s a premium set up for sure.
🤠 Good topic 👍I am looking at the FX Impact M4 Compact, and the FX Panthera Compact. Since I don’t own either of them I can only make comparisons based on presentations in TH-cam channels. My only interest is hunting. And I would like to own and extra 700 mm barrel for either of the two I end up buying. My favorite caliber is ,30/7.62 and I’m thinking medium sized Boar for short distance hunts up to sixty meters average, and entertainment long distance shots for rabbits when I put in the long barrel. I have heard from owners that the good thing about the Panthera is that is simpler; and complaints from M3 owners about too much fiddling for adjustments, more finicky. But you seem to like the M3/M4 for hunting. What would be a good characterization of these guns to decide which one to buy?
I know you’re not asking me, but as a Impact and Maverick owner, pushing power with a short barrel 30 and hunting, I’d probably go with the Panthera and put the bottle in the back. The Plenum around the barrel is going to stiffen things up, improving accuracy. Still a decent amount of shots from the mag. Ability to dual bottle it. Had I bought the .30 Panthera first, I would not own the Maverick and would have taken longer to get a Impact. I still really want a Panthera and will probably still get one.. likely next. I’ve had one in my Utah cart for months 🤣 All that said, as far as geeking out and switching barrels, calibers, etc.. probably hard to beat the Impact.
got the RAW Hm1000x .22, Gauntlet 30sl .30, Pitbull .357 carbine, Walther Reign .22 and Huben gk1 .22...competition, hunting, plinking id say covered..
I have a benjamin akela and for my needs it is perfect aside from one thing. You can't touch the scope or barrel or it will no longer be zeroed. If i store it on a shelf on a bipod its fine. If I store it in the case i have to rezero. And obviously if i haul it in the truck i have to be careful not to bump the barrel or scope. Everything is tight.
I have the same thing with my hatsan hydra it's absolutely driving me crazy! That's why I'm looking for a sturdy and precise pcp rifle. I think a drs will be perfect for me, i just need to test it somewhere.
I like the premise. I think you should get other experienced airgunners to espouse their preferences. The chart is helpful. Everyone's list would be different.
why you should by a pcp when u can have the same performance of a hi power pcp with a 22lr? usually for a lot less in terms of price? I didn’t found an answer to that back in time so i decide to by a 22. Maybe you have a good answer for that
@ in italy hi power pcp (over 7.5j) are treated as firearms by any means. I also pay 0.15€ for each ammo (cci mini mag) having 1/2 moa grouping with no effort at 100m, with H&N 40 gr slug at 0.09€. there is for scure a price difference, but it’s not that big deal, at least for me, plus you have to do zero tuning on a 22lr in order to make it shoot well. And don’t get me wrong, pcp are very fascinating rifle, I would love to have one, but considering the air refilling problem and almost the triple of the price of a solid rimfire, for me it’s not worth it
My answer is easy… I need a license for a .22LR and not for an airgun. But I can totally understand that argument in a country where they aren’t regulated.
@ i assume it’s a different and or more triky license to obtain than the one for centerfire rifle, right? could be interesting to know more about that, also about huting license in africa ecc. anyway i want to really congratulate with you for the cannel you have and for everything behind it, i really enjoy your content and i have also improved as a shooter
I HAVE EVERYTHING FROM A 177 TO 35 CAL. IF I COULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN, i WOULD JUST BUY 22, AND 25 CAL GUNS WITH MAYBE A 30 CAL JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT. I BASICALLY CAN TAKE DOWN MEDIUM GAME WITH A 22 AND LARGE GAME WITH MY 25 CALS. AS FAR AS BRANDS, I WOULD GO WITH FX CROWN AND IMPACT, AIR VENTURI AVENGERS (OLDER MODELS, NEW MODEL IS TOO HEAVY), AND HATSAN NOVA STARS, ALL IN 22 AND 25 CAL. I HAVE MY 25 CALS TUNED TO TAKE DEER OR HOGS AT 50-100 YRDS USING HOLLOW POINT PELLETS OR SLUGS. I DO HAVE THE WESTERN SIDEWINDER IN 25 CAL BUT THAT GUN PACTS A LITTLE MORE POWER THAN THE IMPACT AND IT WILL CAUSE YOU TO SHOOT MORE AMMO SINCE ITS FULL AUTO, SO YOU HAVE TO DISIPLINE YOUSELF. NOT DOWNING ANYONE CHOICE OR PICKS OF GUNS, THESE ARE JUST THE ONES THAT I OWN AND FAVOR OVER THE OTHER 15-20 PCP GUNS I HAVE, BUT I LOVE ALL OF THE OTHERS ONE ALSO. MY MAIN CONCERNS ARE POWER AND ACCURACY, SHOT COUNT NOT SO MUCH BECAUSE IF YOU ARE ZEROED IN THEN IT SHOULDN'T TAKE 2-3 SHOTS TO HIT YOUR TARGET.
I’d love to have a pcp but my problem is they are so expensive yea you can get a 150 dollar pcp but then you are looking at a 5-600 dollar air pump or try to pump them by hand
Zelos or m60 and a 150$ pump Amazon pump has done me well for years before that I used a gauntlet 2 real world price great energy and accurate. If the pump dries just return it and get a new one free of charge if you buy the 35$ dollar warranty.

Long barrels 700 800mm are more trouble than theyre worth for most people. Theyre quieter and more efficient. You can achieve over 70 ft lbs with precision in 500mm if you're persistent. 600mm impact gets my vote and im 700mm.
Unfortunately it is impossible to get the power I need to compete against rimfires using 500 and 600mm barrels. I agree with you that shorter is generally better, but unfortunately with the low working pressures in PCP airguns we need more of a runway to push heavy projectiles at a decent speed.
