Special Episode which let loose a flood of fond memories and nostalgia!!! I still speak of Phoolkali and am still in touch with her mahavat, Nisar!! Loads of stories of her and with her keep those memories Alive!! Thank you for this one ‘Tigers and More’ Ajay Suri!!!
I am so glad to know that you too had personal experiences with Phoolkali as well as his able and honest mahout Nisar. For someone like me who has just started a new TH-cam channel, it's heartening to know that out there are takers for your stories! There is so much to share in the world of nature, wildlife and environment and it shall be my endeavour, through Tigers And Beyond, to share with people all those stories, encounters and experiences which have moved me in some way.
There are many memories of mine and my friend Parth associated with Nisar and his elephant Phoolkali. I still remember how she saved us from a wild dominant male tusker who chased us for a kilometre. It was her calm behaviour which saved us. Will miss you dear
Absolutely true. Phoolkali was a gem of a trained elephant, I will say she was one in a million. Honestly speaking, when I started writing the script of this story I really didn't know how todays wildlife enthusiasts, with that typical mindset, which is bent upon clicking at least one tiger a day in a reserve forest, would take to this elephant story. But then I thought- this elephant was very close to my heart, and her story needs to be told. Thanks for stopping by and appreciating the effort.
Jim Corbett is indeed such a gorgeous place! I have never been there but after watching this video, I am certainly putting it on my bucket list. Phoolkali is such a majestic beauty!! No wonder people would come from far away to witness her greatness... Would definitely visit soon :)
Corbett Park is not just a gorgeous place, it leaves an ever-lasting impression on your mind & heart. After each visit, you return more rejuvenated. Thanks for stopping by for the Phoolkali story!
Bilkul sahi Sinha Saab. Incidentally, I have seen a few episodes of your channel and find it very interesting as well as instructive.
Ishtiaq is a legend, no doubt. Main 1990 se Corbett aa raha hun. And if you recall, journalist Usha Rai (wife of Raghu Rai) who was then working with The Hindustant Times, had made the mahout Subedar Ali a nationally recognised name by writing a front-page report about his near-fatal encounter with a tiger in the Dhikala grassland. And many of us have our own interesting stories to tell and share.
