Yes! Where is Ben Johnson? He did 6 John Ford movies: Rio Grande, Fort Apache, She Wore A Yellow Ribbon, Wagon Master, Cheyenne Autumn and 3 Godfathers.
Woody Strode is the only actor that's been directed by John Ford, Stanley Kubrick, Sergio Leone, Cecil B. Demille, and Francis Ford Coppola, all of them: . John Ford (Sergeant Rutledge, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Two Rode Together, 7 Women) . Stanley Kubrick (Spartacus) . Sergio Leone (Once Upon A Time In The West) . Cecil B. Demille (The Ten Commandments 1956) . Francis Ford Coppola (The Cotton Club) That's quite a career highlight.
Hi, "Wrangler"..., Enjoyable..., this was a ( fantastic ) video and very informative, and thank you for sharing the video ! ! * Although..., I did miss "Ben Johnson"..., many movies and great character actors in Western movies, Director was John Ford and his movie Stock Company. Many of the characters and actors in this video, played in more than two or three movies/films for "John Ford" and other directors... Without these excellent movie characters and actors..., we would ( not ) have such a fine and excellent Western genre of the "Old Wild West" movies... * These were the ( best ) character Western actors in the history of film and Academy Awards... This video was excellent and I watched and listened to it, three ( 3 ) times... Once again..., "Thank you" for sharing this excellent video ! ! "Semper Fi" Mike in Montana :)
Victor McGlaglen was the actual star of two other Ford movies -- The Lost Patrol...and The Informer, which won him the Best Actor Oscar. You think maybe these two films should've been mentioned as well..?
Woody Strode was a serious badass. Played college football at UCLA, professional football, WW2 veteran, world class decathlete, professional wrestler………
@@famouspeople63 I've read Scott Eyman's Ford biography, and recall reading that. However, Eyman wrote that Strode was in the old man's bedroom when he died, and that Strode and the others drank a toast to Pappy, and smashed their glasses in the fireplace. When Ford was laid to rest, Strode was the first person in the church, hours before everyone else. He was one of Ford's five "sons."
Leaving out Ben Johnson is inexcusable!
Ben Johnson immediately comes to mind.

Agreed, he and Slim Pickens were actual cowboys who later played film cowboys.
Two other actors who were cowboys before playing Cowboys: Gary Cooper and Robert Taylor. Barbara Stanwyck said Taylor taught her to ride
Absolutely, maybe the best of the bunch.
BEN JOHNSON WAS A GREAT ACTOR 👍 😊😊
Delighted to see a mention of Hank Worden,His little cameos were always ajoy.
Such Memorable Actors..
Gone, But Not Forgotten.
Immortalized on TH-cam :) Oh and their films!

Strode is a great supporting actor, perfect for so many roles. But his best is Sgt Rutledge in my personal opinion.

Don't get more real than that. He was also John Ford's care giver when Ford was in his last days.
"WW2 veteran." Nope. He never went in harm's way.

@@nstix2009xitsn Ridiculous comment.
Left out Ben Johnson who won an Academy Award for The Last Picture Show ??? Ben Johnson was a favorite of John Ford.
GREAT.
Harry Carey Jr was not in Rio Bravo !
In fact he did act in the movie, his scenes were cut and so he did not appear on screen.
@@GhostRider-sc9vu If he wasn’t on the screen for the released version, he wasn’t In the movie
Gosh, guys, he did say some (not all!)....
