yeah it made sense. i think i just thought 6 9 2 gave them a better setup with their road connect likely being blocked through the middle with green and blacks placements.
When I was halway through the video, I thought there was no chance of winning, especially after that 5 card steal. Absolutely insane how a few rolls and trades can change your position so fast. What a game!
red really dropped the ball on this one, not locking road when he had the chance. I thought he actually had a good setup to start, but he was trying to do too much when he started going for that grain port.
Analysing that two brick for a wheat when you produce loads yourself is a bad trade was correct, it seems to me. Postponing the city one or two orbits isn't that big of a deal and it keeps the robber away from you and lets you secure an expansion spot earlier. Good on you for being tenacious, but there probably was no need to get yourself into such a tight spot.
Truth be told red's plow didn't make sense. He should have been focusing on connecting to his other settlement rather than trying to plow you. Had they gone for road this game would have totally been different. Because he didn't go for road it allowed you or black to steal it. You can't be a road player and not have road. It just doesn't make sense. I'm glad you took it hugh. Red was a typical player that has a great setup but no end game in sight. They just build and build and don't try to efficiently reach 10 points.
red's pick was absolutely sensible. Road player in a to nof ore wheat board makes sense. He is the only one who can really build roads and has woods.

What a game! Not wanting to spoil but it’s crazy how you hung in there till the very end with that locked and plowed setup
It was actually crazy lol. I thought I was absolutely dead... so did the table!!
my new favorite catantent

It was a wild one man. I felt the same way!
Insane game! What a way to close it out.
thank you!
Yet another road/city strat victory! Nicely done. Real skin of your teeth win....
thanks brother! I think I need to do a comprehensive strategy guide on roads and cities.
@hughcatan in the era of hyper OWS, it's a definite alternate strategy winner...
Insane game nice win
thanks man was quite the game!
WILD game, the non-knights were key, you lose that game 9 times out of 10. well played!
When you're in a pinch... buy devs!
You should not have won that, you had no business being in that game... yet you slayed and I am now happy
lol thanks broham!!

I think they should have prioritized citying over expanding to the 6 wheat and eventually taking road
@@hughcatan I think they were trying to get the grain port before green, but it's just too slow, and leaves road up for grabs.

Not gonna lie I was not rooting for you to win...... Until I was. That last roll I was praying you didn't roll a 7. That game was a butt clincher. 😅😅
haha thanks man! My cheeks were clenched.
