Drew was also the second string QB to Jesse Ertz, who went on to play for Kansas State. Jesse tore his ACL in the playoffs and Drew led the rest of the way and Mediapolis wound up taking second at state football as well under Drew. I always thought that made this story even greater as well.
Not only was he not a state champion, he was t considered D1 level while being recruited and even had a losing record his first year wrestling as a Panther. The definition of a grinder.
Out of all the wrestlers, who woulda thought Drew Foster woulda won 184? Never even heard of him until he was in the finals of NCAAs.

No this is pretty true, another great match was 141 but came to end with a bad call from the ref.

*That was a great win. Outcome of the match aside, bad on Rob Koll for his remark about Foster and only being athletic for the first period to period in a half. Not much class there.*
I knew Drew from high school. I hung out with a lot of people from his school, they were in the same conference as my school. Very humble and hard working man. When I heard Koll say that live I knew Drew was gonna win. Cornell got too cocky.
