I saw the Shop Assistants supporting the Mary Chain at the Hacienda in 85. They had two drummers and were utterly shambolic, but brilliant and charming to boot. Later saw Mptorcycle Boy supporting the Mary Chain on the Darklands tour, what a band! Shame they never fulfilled their potential. Sad to hear of the death of singer Alex Taylor
