    Yes!!!! 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽
    You’re awesome for this. I have a van and ready to pump it out and install a new radio but had no idea how to start. Thank you so much. Now to find the perfect one with Sirius and Bluetooth 🤔

      If it is after market radio, it will require some type of adaptor to mate the wiring together.
      If it is another Dodge radio out of a different dodge van, it may require a dealer scan tool to marry the to computers together. (Newer vans for sure)

    My actual radio is looks identical to that one, but mine is a 2015 caravan.

      Interesting STU377! My buddy has a cheaper 2012 Grand Caravan with the same radio too! Previous owner must have spilled something on buttons and we had some issues. I am hoping to do a video on the other features it has. (I just need to figure out how they work!)

    If you rub the end of the Phillips head on a magnet it becomes magnetic

      Yep, thanks. Just need to get a magnet and rub it! Good tip though.

    You said you had a word of warning if exchanging the radio and that you would do it at the end of the video. You forgot?

    • @unclemarksdiyauto
      @unclemarksdiyauto  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was at the end in the outro. Warning was that newer vehicles, I think 2013 and newer will not plug and play. dealer has to mate radio to vehicle serial number Issac.

    Where is the video on installing a new radio ?

    • @unclemarksdiyauto
      @unclemarksdiyauto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have one chug-A-Lug Doug. If your vehicle is 2012 or newer you will need dealer assistance to get your computer to recognize the newer factory style radio.

    A magnetic tip screw driver wold have saved you grief if you lost a screw.

    • @unclemarksdiyauto
      @unclemarksdiyauto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure would. Some of these screw drivers were magnetic tipped. Must have been cheap stuff. If you look closely, you will see that is a 45 year old SNAP-ON screw driver! Maybe I can get warranty?

    Thanks so much for this....my 2010 Grand Caravan has the radio without the bluetooth....are they directly interchangeable? i was thinking of trying to get a used one butt i wasnt sure if its a direct swap...anything special with the Bluetooth version?

    • @unclemarksdiyauto
      @unclemarksdiyauto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe you have to get them coded to the van. When you swap them, they are not plug and play. Not sure what the dealer charges to code them. It requires special dealer level scan tools. I have not used the Bluetooth feature, yet.

      @@tigeabenton2174 So sorry Tigea. I didn't build it this way, I am just showing you how to remove it. Are you planning to replace it with same kinda of radio or something aftermarket? Because the news gets worst!

  • @serpico1616
    @serpico1616 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you know if those brackets on the side can be removed and added to an doube din aftermarket radio? Or is that something else I need to buy?
    Also I have a red wire coming from the new stereo wiring harness but I notice in your video that the vehicle end has no red wire. Do I need to route that wire to the ignition?

    • @unclemarksdiyauto
      @unclemarksdiyauto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry Evan, I have since sold the car so I can’t check and see if the brackets are removable. As for routing a wire to the ignition, one of these wires (not sure which) comes from the ignition. You need a wiring diagram / schematic to see which on it is.

    • @serpico1616
      @serpico1616 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@unclemarksdiyauto Thanks for getting back to me, I thought you may just happen know if those brackets were removable in general, I assume they probably aren't though. As for the wiring harness, I've already soldered all the wires except for a really long red wire coming from the stereo that has a fuse in line because the other harness has no red wire and all other wires are accounted for. Anyway thanks for your help!

      I think the dealership has to code the radio to your van. The radio from the 08 also needs something done before removal for it to accept the transfer. I can't remember exactly how they do it, but it is a special electronic tool they use. Does that make sense?

    • @ericgarcia8390

    I thought a "star tip" screw driver is a torques driver. Hmmmm

    • @unclemarksdiyauto
      @unclemarksdiyauto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe a old Canadian term from the 1960's/70's. Been called that from way back then. Although I guess torx bits have been around since the mid 1960's as well. Sorry for the confusion Mickstar.
