I bought this watch when it was first refreshed in 2016. Fantastic watch, don’t knock it just for the movement. Might be the best pilot chronograph on the market. The dial can look both matte and sunburst at the same time, stunning in person. Super crystal clear to read, crisp finish under macro.
Agreed. Nothing to turn your nose up at. Chrononeter grade, 6 position adjusted, proven caliber, simple service, all housed in a faraday shield. Appropriately priced
I think it was the best Version which was produced between 2016-2018. The box and the dial have been changed from 2019 and the sunburst effect on the dial has been reduced. So the contrast between the main dial and the sub dials has decreased. Overall, in the sunlight, the dial looks brighter and bluer than the older in a nice way. But there is less light games on the dial now, and mighty visual effects of the sunburst dial shortened.
I’ve had several Rolexes through the years and was in the market for a Skydweller SS with the blue face but they are literally impossible to find unless you are willing to pay almost double list out on eBay. I saw one of these IWC at my local dealer over the weekend and was blown away by the quality, the heft and feel. And it’s less than half the price of the Skydweller. It’s going to be my next watch purchase in a few months.
@@hhanger1 Have had mine for a little over two months now… The accuracy of the movement is insane! Over the past three days I’ve only lost just barely over two seconds. Congrats on picking up such an amazing watch!
Super excited for this watch! Dare I say, I think it looks better on the leather strap, at least for 1k less. Would love to see more of the Big Pilot (or how this compares next to the Big Pilot even if it the BP is out of its price league!)
The IWC bracelet is amazing. I was looking at the MarkVIII and tried this on. The dial is epic. Tough with both of these because the bracelet is a massive uncharge and they both look really good on the very high quality leather. But, the bracelet is soo good and worth it if you ask me. The boutique offered me the leather as a free accessory if I bought on bracelet. Great shirt BW!
This watch is great. Very bold. I owned the black dial previously. That pop of red on the second hand completely made the watch for me. It would have been bland if it was just black and white. Perhaps the best clasp out there. Could be prone to accidental pressing of the button but look how small it is and thin. Omega clasps are huge and thick/bulky. I have a 6.5 inch wrist and it was just a little too big and all dial for me. Great watch, great presence and I really enjoyed my time with it. On a side note I wish watch shops would let you take off the plastic. True they may take a 1000.00 hit or something but a thousand dollars for getting their watch out there and name out there on channels that have 75k subscribers seems like the cheapest advertising you can get. These are more like highlights, viewings or examinations vs reviews. Love the wrist rolls outside. Always my favorite parts to your vids Bruce.

The lume should not be looked at as disappointing, they do that for a reason. The legibility with lume styled that way in pitch black lighting after it has faded for hours is far more legible than watches with fully lumed indexes

This could be a perfect addition to your collection Bruce. Knowing that you like bracelet over straps, this one is definitely worth it. But if you decide to go for it then be on the lookout for a pre-owned model from couple of years back when they had clasp with perlage finishing.
Hi, I have it too and I love it. I have problems by setting the time, as the crown needs a lot of pressure to be taken out for the time setting in position 2. Did you realize it too or do I have to do a full service? Many thanks, Peter. It's now 6 Years old without service

I love the dial and the bracelet. But I feel the movement is underwhelming for the price compared to what Omega offers in the new moon watch (or really any of their watches).
I haven’t seen one in person yet. My experience is that Omega has very good QC. Better than Rolex and Tudor when it comes to the small things like dial alignment. I think the sharp edges thing is probably BS. That’s what others are saying anyway.

Great looking watch, shame about the size. I tried on the Spitfire chrono, if it wasn't so big I'd have seriously considered snapping it up on the spot.
