We're singing this in my choir rn for graduation. We only have 10 people in our choir, 3 basses/baritone, 4 Altos, 1 tenor, and 2 sopranos. (I'm one of the sopranos) we have one more class with our senior (He's graduating in 2 days) and we're singing this for his graduation and he's also doing another song as a solo. I can't believe this is the last song we get to sing together, this year's choir has been the best I've been in so far. We're all so close with each other and I'd say we have the best director ever. We call her our choir mom. Choir is our safe place and we all just feel so blessed to be there. This song and every other song we sang together will always be special, even the ones that were very hard to learn.
I have often dreamed of a far off place Where a hero's welcome would be waiting for me Where the crowds would cheer, when they see my face And a voice keeps saying this is where I'm meant to be I'll be there someday, I can go the distance I will find my way if I can be strong I know every mile would be worth my while When I go the distance, I'll be right where I belong Down an unknown road to embrace my fate Though that road may wander, it will lead me to you And a thousand years would be worth the wait It might take a lifetime but somehow I'll see it through And I won't look back, I can go the distance And I'll stay on track, no I won't accept defeat It's an uphill slope But I won't lose hope, 'til I go the distance And my journey is complete, oh yeah But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part For a hero's strength is measured by his heart, oh Like a shooting star, I will go the distance I will search the world, I will face its harms I don't care how far, I can go the distance 'Til I find my hero's welcome waiting in your arms In your arms
I actually changed the soprano part for my choir :-) Between the alto and soprano we sing the entire melody, but in a range that is more comfortable. This is quite intense for Sopranos.
Hello, fellow bass! I must say, I am indeed in the same predicament as of the current late. A rare species we are, aye? Apologies for the inexquisite english, but may I ask for guidance regarding the lower voices shown in the piece. I would appreciate insights coming from someone who has thou performed in prowess the lower registers. Thank you very much, and greetings from Australia! I am soleby indebted to you. 🦘
@@nicejontarciego4107 well, don’t think of it as you singing the lower part. Think of it as you singing your own part and it’ll blend with all the rest
I think it’s set too high for community choirs in regard to the soprano part. With the demos sung by professionals it can be deceptive how difficult certain parts are.

I'm a (male) soprano and this is very high for me 💀 I can't hit the last note so I have to keep it the same as the last note for the other "arms"
I am doing this in choir right now!
Same!

This song is beautiful.
I have often dreamed of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome would be waiting for me
Where the crowds would cheer, when they see my face
And a voice keeps saying this is where I'm meant to be
I'll be there someday, I can go the distance
I will find my way if I can be strong
I know every mile would be worth my while
When I go the distance, I'll be right where I belong
Down an unknown road to embrace my fate
Though that road may wander, it will lead me to you
And a thousand years would be worth the wait
It might take a lifetime but somehow I'll see it through
And I won't look back, I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track, no I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope
But I won't lose hope, 'til I go the distance
And my journey is complete, oh yeah
But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is measured by his heart, oh
Like a shooting star, I will go the distance
I will search the world, I will face its harms
I don't care how far, I can go the distance
'Til I find my hero's welcome waiting in your arms
In your arms
Big strong bass man coming through
We need more of them out there

Me too. The "but to seek beyond the glory" part is a pain :(
Same but, I'm a tenor. It's pretty beautiful to hear.
Same, I’m a bass

If only my musical Group had more Than 11 members
I need to show this to my choir director
You have our permission to send this link, and get your director to subscribe!

@@mirizcatheron8116 I think my main problem then was the fact that I wasn't actually supposed to be a soprano, my voice fit an alto better lol 😅

Why do I feel like I need to hear one soprano to hit a top D instead of the A unless you can have two people cover both notes
My choir sang this my past spring year concert, the notws were good but the words lowkey were harder then the notes
