Survivors of human trafficking are often involved in criminal activity as a result of their exploitation or are subjected to a form of labor trafficking known as forced criminality. Additionally, survivors may face negative consumer credit information such as coerced debt, unpaid loans, evictions, late payments, or bankruptcy, all stemming from their exploitation. This webinar will provide Florida public interest law advocates with a comprehensive overview of available relief options, including the federal Debt Bondage Repair Act and Florida’s Section 943.0583, which allows survivors to petition for the expungement of criminal records linked to their trafficking victimization. Attendees will learn practical strategies to assist survivors in clearing their criminal records, addressing coerced debt, and restoring their financial stability and dignity.
This training was approved by the Florida Bar for 1.0 General & 1.0 Criminal Trial and Criminal Appellate Law Certification Credits!
