This was just exceptional in every way. Everyone the next morning was talking about the show. I almost fell on the floor when Phyllis told Lou how hard it is to coordinate accessories. Nancy Walker was priceless. Imagine all the logistics involved to do this episode. People always commented about how perfect the apartment had been conceived--growing up Jewish in a four-family flat, yep, this is it. Right down to the doilies.
The funny part of this was Phyllis pulled the same thing on Mother Dexter on her own show as well. Only Mother Dexter wasn't pleased with Phyllis either, to the point where she kicked her in the shin and threw the bouquet AT her! Hahahahahaha!
@mattrnyc1 I'm so jealous that you know all the highways and byways of New York City! It must be wonderful to live there (I'm assuming you do!). Every "Rhoda" episode gave me such an urge to hop on a plane to NYC; however, I've only ever passed through once, never was able to stop and visit. Rats! Oh, well.......maybe someday.
No I did not write the story. I just told it to Lorenzo Music & later saw something on RHODA that 'strongly' reminded me of my marriage day. Lorenzo is not in anybody's background. He was one of the writers on this show & also gave his voice only to the doorman Carlton. He did a million commercials & was the voice for GARFIELD until he passed. We lost a wonderful man, a good friend & a great talent. He is missed very much.
@MrH38oward Yes! Going on 41 years now. Thanks be to God or whatever you want to call the highest power. I am TRULY grateful & try not to take my marriage for granted.
@bluenail03 - All but forgotten. By the time "Rhoda" begun, the show's creators "tweaked" the characters back history and consequently you only ever saw Brenda. Debbie vanished from the picture and Arthur was also never seen or heard from. By the way the scripts were written when the series went into production, it was implied that Rhoda and Brenda were the only siblings and both Arthur and Debbie never existed.....
She gets on at the E. 68th Hunter College Station (6 train). The r and the Col on the sign are visible behind her when she stands on the platform. To get to the Grand Concourse in the Bronx, she would have to switch to either the 4 or the 5, which she could do at 86th St or 125th St.

"I forgive you... but if I were you I'd get my tail out of here before Rhoda shows up"
oh Georgette
Rest In Peace, Valerie.
Seeing Rhoda running the streets in her wedding gown broke my heart. I felt so bad for her.
Carlton the doorman is the reason i'm watching this :D I can never get enough of Lorenzo Music
I always thought the scene was funny but there was also something so beautiful about Rhoda in the wind of the city. Rest In Peace Valerie.
Not sure why, but this scene where she tells Mary on the phone what to tell Phyllis is the scene that I will always remember
Carlton...one of the best voices in sitcom history.
Also the voice of Garfield the cat
Rhoda looked gorgeous in her wedding gown!! When she looks in the mirror and says "son of a gun" I thought that was so cool!! RIP Valerie!
"Rhoda, I come from a small town in the Midwest...I can't say THAT!"
"I"m from the Bronx--I can"
I wanna know what she said!

Fantastic! I have not seen this since it originally aired and I have always remembered it! Thank you!!
Funniest line: IDA: "Mary, you've been just like a daughter to me...so shut up. Lol!!!!!!!!
And future Oscar-winning director ("Terms of Endearment")!!!
When Rhoda asks Carlton "How's the traffic" Listen to Carlton's voice in his reply of "Uh traffic, yep it's out there!". It's clearly a redub!
This episode is beyond classic. 2:01 "Son of a gun." Priceless.

Did anybody catch the guy standing next to Rhoda on the platform? Isn't that a very young James Brooks?
Sidenote: The man starring at Rhoda is James Brooks, the creator of MTM and Rhoda.
Phyllis: 7:20 "Lou. You understand. I had so much on my mind. You know how trying it can be to properly coordinate your accessories."
RIP Valerie Harper. Say hi Mary Tyler Moore!
The guy in the subway was Jim Brooks.
I am laughing so hard at Ida when she finds out rhoda is not there. 4:30 to 5:10
And her reaction,”I’ll kill you!” 😂
I would have been pissed if I were Rhoda. Phyllis invites herself to the wedding, makes insults and then forgets to pick her up. Trouble.

I love how VAL looked and seen all those people on the subway when it slowed down.
That's what friends are for!!!
This is actually sad. Screw Phyllis. After 20 min Rhoda should of called a cab🤨😂🚖
She did try to flag one down.
Poor Rhonda 😭
Today Rhoda could just get Uber.
funkeekatt or, call Phyllis on her cell phone.
There is truth to that. LOL.
Me Sad :o( RIP Valerie.
To answer the question "Are you still married".
Yes.
i GUESS back at the station
the guy getting off the train at 6:58 is a friend of mine! a much older friend
My Friend Passed away... Yes the great Stuball...

It's 86/Broadway from the exterior shots.
I wonder why Ted didn't make an appearance.
@MrH38oward i am so GLAD.....Now when I watch this show I think of you and your wife.........
I'd love to know what subway and what streets those were.
The first part looks like Manhattan.
When she runs up the stairs, and you see the intersection, that's Grand Concourse area in the Bronx
@h38oward
STILL MARRIED???????????????????
Where is JOE'S dad???
Very observant!
9:56
Is Lorenzo Music also the guy in the audience with the annoying "hee-haw" laugh?? Ack, it's soooo annoying!!!
jekorb No. That’s James L. Brooks. His laugh can also be heard on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” & “Taxi”.
