  • When we got the tree in 2018, it was in a poor state of vigor and thin branches. Since it was a unique material with a missing core, we decided to wait for the tree to recover and work on it. After replanting the tree in 2019, the following year, strong buds appeared, confirming the tree's recovery. 2020, the branch framework was built, and three years after acquiring the tree, the contouring middle work was finally done.

How you guys keep the leaf so bright and small?

The leaves of the satsuki tree are basically this size. The type of tree is different between azalea and satsuki.

Hello... you keep the azalea directly to the sun?

Hello. I keep my satsuki bonsai in direct sunlight. When the temperature exceeds 35 degrees Celsius, we use a shade net.

Very nice recovery. I guess the deadwood will be tricky even in the long term. The dead part will keep rotting, right?
But very good vigor on such a hollow azalea.
I see that during this pruning, the shoots all have flower buds. Do you expect this tree to grow roots or sideshoots before winter comes? Or was the timing chosen to wire up the branch structure?

Thank you for everything. I am pruning the branches to make them look better. I don't expect any new shoots until winter. I am leaving a lot of buds so we can see the flowers next year, but pruning before they bloom will speed up the finish. If you prune it, you will not be able to see the flowers. It's a matter of which comes first, the tree or the flowers.
