  • Here is the deal folks... if you have nothing nice to say, go on about your way. I will delete your comments. I don't runaround badmouthing other breeds. Then again, I was taught manners during my raising. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. You don't have to watch the video, remember? Take your finger and click on something else.

You wanna know what Big Lick looks good on? Statues. In motion it looks hideous and the riders are all hunchback goons Nothing Elegant about it. The horses have to work 1000% harder than a flatshoed horse. A Canter to a Stacked shoe horse is a trainwreck the way it looks because of all the weights and ungainly manner of achieving it. Its really ugly instead of what it should be: Fluid and Relaxed. Instead of a pretty pose of a rider straight back etc. A hunched fiend doing whatever they can to win a Ribbon Medal or Trophy.

Apparently you've never seen the shows. I'm sure flat shod is actually more popular, but that doesn't mean the stands don't get filled with *padded performance*. Big Lick is not a thing anymore. It is a term for soring which has been heavily outlawed since 1970 by the HPA. Every horse in inspected pre show and afterwards if they score the top 3 or are randomly selected. I've heard the government will disqualify for things such as fly spray or hoof polish. They don't play around when it comes to making sure these horses are sound and happy.

The exercise is endless circles in a round pen or actually being ridden by the hunch back brigade. Again on an oval. They aren't balanced because their natural equilibrium has been artificially altered, andvyou could never get them fit because of the ridiculous contraptions on their feet. Pampering... Lets go into that. They're fed, groomed, stalls clean, not to mention deforming their natural tail carriage. The natural instinct of a horse is to be able to roam, graze pasture, roll in mud, groom and interact with its herd members. None of which these horses are allowed to do. Horses were not designed to be locked in a 12ft x 12ft area. They suffer mentally. They learn all forms of stable habits, crib , weave, windsuck... All stress related. • @mentallyinsane445
      @mentallyinsane445 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes, they did in fact pass inspection. If they did not, they would not be in the ring. The 1970 HPA law has prohibited sored horses from auction, sales, transportation, showing or any type of exhibition. Don't believe me? This is every part of an inspection that goes on for one horse before entering the ring.
Locomotive Test - Can the horse move around freely? Perform a figure 8?
Palpations - Does the horse flinch, pull away or show signs of discomfort while their pastern is palpated? There cannot be excessive hair loss. Also ensures compliance with the scar rule.
Shoe Measurements - Does it meet the heel to toe ratio? Are the pads made with correct material and meet the correct thickness?
X-Rays - Ensures no further shoe violations and to look for coffin bone rotation.
Thermography - Checks for abnormal heat patterns, which could point towards a sored horse.
Blood Testing - Checks for numbing/pain medications.
Chemical Swabs - Checks for illegal substances that may not have been detected earlier.
If shows do NOT have USDA inspectors present, the show is to be reported and shut down immediately. I've seen horses disqualified for things such as hoof polish and fly spray. The government does not play around when it comes to making sure these horses are sound and happy.
If you're one of those tree huggers who donates to Humane Society thinking you're doing something, you are completely wrong. Horse Plus has got to be one of the most corrupt organizations out there. They love to create their sob stories to get thousands upon thousands of dollars for who knows what. It sure doesn't go in to "rehabilitating" the horses they "save." Did you know they've euthanized over 10,000 lbs of horses? They were posted for money, then euthanized. Heck, they weren't even eligible for slaughter. Don't assume things everyone else says is true before doing your own independent research. Also, there is no such thing as teaching a horse to not react to pain.

Horse soring has been outlawed by the HPA for 53 years now. USDA inspections are held at each rated show and training barns. They have 3 major parts to it before each and every horse enters the ring.
      1. General appearance: Are his eyes relaxed? Abnormally sweating or breathing? Anxious? Or responsive to his surroundings.
      2. Gait + stance: Can the horse move freely? Are his legs constantly shifting around? Can he manage a figure 8?
      3. Physical Exam: Checks for scars, does blood tests, palpates the pasterns, both front and back.
If any sensitivity is shown, any scars are found, discoloration, etc. the horse will not pass the inspection. Keep in mind, there are pre and post show inspections to double check. They will be banned from showing if any signs of present or previous scarring shows. They will also ensure shoeing regulations which must not exceed 5 inches of padding with it weighing 3-5 lbs (like us wearing work boots) and chains/rollers that weigh less than 6 ounces (or a bracelet). 95% of horses that come to show are HPA compliant.

I have visited barns and shows. I know people who used to be involved and couldn't stand the guilt. I was told to never look down at hooves in a TWH barn. I sat in the front row just to learn for myself because I don't take people's word about things. One lap around the ring and the poor horses were in such distress and sweating so profusely that a few drops hit me. So, I agree with you that people should be informed by seeing the wild, terified (or vacant) eyes and feeling the toxic sweat.

I took your advice to "learn a little something" and this is what I "learned": In 2014 BIG LICK Celebration CEO Mike Inman and VETERAN BIG LICK horse TRAINER Winky Groover were CITED with MULTIPLE HPA VIOLATIONS from 2002-SEVEN YEARS BEFORE your video-to 2011. In fact, in 2009 alone-the year your video posted-CEO Inman was CITED FOUR TIMES! Additionally, a February 17, 2014 post noted that "UNDER INMAN’S MANAGEMENT, the Celebration’s S.H.O.W. HIO [wa]s being DECERTIFIED by the U.S.D.A. for 139 VIOLATIONS of the Horse Protection Act". Furthermore, Larry Joe Wheelon was INDICTED on MULTIPLE COUNTS of AGGRAVATED CRUELTY to Tennessee Walking Horses-and he was the ETHICS CHAIRMAN of the Tennessee Walking Horse TRAINERS ASSOCIATION!
In other words, HORSES were "CHECKED" by an AGENCY (S.H.O.W. HIO) that VIOLATED the legislation enacted to protect them!
POINT BEING: Yes, competition is monitored-but in pretty much the same way as the proverbial hen house was "monitored" by the proverbial fox.
PS: And YES, "pads MUST be banned"-as well as anything else that causes an unhealthy disruption or severe exaggeration of a horse's normal physiologically-sound gait.

Just because something is illegal doesn't mean that people will fully stop doing it. Murder is illegal and most murderers get caught but, some stay on the run for the rest of their lives.
