One great thing about country music is that it talks about the screwed up people, and how they act in the real world - some people are pussies, as you put it, they don't want to rock the boat, they're scared of making a fuss, and so on. That's life for many people in a lot of ways, and as you say nobody is in the right in the song. That makes it relatable to a lot of people, including people who might not admit it to themselves.
Absolutely love Gary Stewart. Glad you are sharing his music. I was blessed to see him play in a roadhouse honky tonk in OK. He was known as the King of the honky tonks because he refused to play the large venue's.
A treat for your ears! Since my parents were alcoholic’s, we kids were always in the honky tonk’s in the rough parts of Houston. Gary Stewart played those bars. I didn’t understand what he was singing about but…His Voice always made me feel warm. My parents owned every album so, Stewart was always playing in our home. Please appreciate the talent and take into consideration the time in which the songs are written and recorded.
I used to go see Gary Stewart all the time while he was alive. Last time I saw him, he was late getting to the stage, forgot the words to the songs, and walked out after 2 songs. An empty glass was his last hit. My favorite. He committed suicide a few weeks later.
Gary Stewart was one of my favorite country singers. I don't even drink, but Gary sang a theme song for those who did. I suggest you listen to some of my favorites: Flat Natural Born Good-Timin' Man, Quits, and Okeechobee Purple. It was a tragedy when he killed himself. He met his wife when he was 17 and she was 20. They got married right away and grew old together. She got pneumonia and died the week of Thanksgiving and he killed himself on December 17, 2003. Gary once said her favorite song was one he wrote called Silver Cloud. It was never released but I've seen a video of it on TH-cam. I recommend it highly.
I have lived in South Texas my whole life. This album is so amazing!! It perfectly defines “honky tonk” music. I have it on my play list now. If I had a dime for every time I’ve danced, sang or drank to his music, I could retire TOMORROW
I actually agree with you guys on this song. However I will say that this was the stereotypical she's cheating on me so I'm going to get drunk song it was Gary Stewart's vocals and the band behind him that made this song. I do remember hearing it a lot back in the day.
Boy that Steel Guitar brought up some memories! It reminded me of a Slim Whitman song "North Wind." I loved Whitman as a kid and that was my favorite song of his, partly because of the Steel Guitar. Whitman was an interesting Guitar player himself. He taught himself to play left-handed because he had lost the second finger on his left hand in an accident.
Hey guys love your reactions as always, we haven’t had any Jennifer Nettles/ Sugarland for a good while so if just like to throw out “tonight” and “unlove you” I think you’ll die for the vocals on those 🥰
Because at the time that song came out, it was literally what I thought about doing every day. But, might have been a fast bike at the time. Either way, something fast, and just GTFO. - Keith
I have never thought you guys were idiots. I mean, you have people buying you bottles of liquor that are often worth over a hundred dollars, just to watch you watch a 5 minute video and comment on the liquor for another 5 minutes. You guys never have to buy your own booze again as long as you do this show. So who are the idiots?
@@stevebournite184 They made a comment early in the video that some of their fans don't know the difference between them. They usually see comments talking about "the guy on the left" or "the guy on the right" but it's usually just someone calling one of them an idiot or something or other.
The man portrayed in this song reminds me of women who just have to have a man even if he's useless, no good skank. The guy would rather be miserable with a cheater than kicking her azz to the curb and being happier on his own. I liked the song. But a lot of country songs are about the poor me im being walked on group. We need more curb kicking songs. Thanks guys!
Such a great song. Gary left us way too soon.
Yes Gary had his demons and tragedies. Thanks for sharing this great tune.

King of the honky tonks!!! This is drinking music!
THE KING OF HONKYTONK
Bob Wills is still the king then George Jones and Strait
Gary Stewart’s got pure Kentucky twang and I love it!!! He was known as the greatest Honky Tonk singer. Check out his song Whiskey Trip
Gary Stewart and his family lived in my hometown in Florida. I went to church and school with his son Joey. Everyone loved his music including myself.
Fort Pierce here
You’re from Fort Pierce? That’s awesome so am I. Gary was my second cousin

Tragic story with Gary, his wife died and he became so despondent a month later took his own life.
didnt wanna hear that

I wore out a few pair of boots myself
My two favorite songs by him are whiskey trip or drinking thing
I love wild turkey 101
Some people do. And the ones that do, REALLY do. I'm definitely not one of them, but I do not define taste for the world. - Keith
That’s my guy. Always my favorite. I wore out many cassettes. Haha.

I had forgotten about this one. I agree with your take on it but I do like his voice.
I love that y’all embrace the insults. 😂

Single Again is another great one from him
I'm a Country Fan, but this song and others like it, are the reason for Country Haters
Y'all need to switch seats sometime just to mess with everyone! Lol

This is what we call hippie country
I can totally see that! But your comment reminded me of the Bellamy Brothers song "Old Hippie" now I'm going to have that stuck in my head!!! 😂

@@MrNiccholasare you aware that is the beginning of a trilogy of songs they tell a damn good story
Better than Boobs by the Bellamy Brothers
@@gotdance6403 there is no song better than that
Y’all need to check out “Whiskey Trip” by Gary Stuart. When I want drink I drink with his music
Johnny Cash had a song called The One on The Right.
"The One on the Right is on the Left"
I personally really love Cody Johnson’s cover of this song, I think his voice suits it much better but that’s a personal preference 🤷♀️
Check out Wade Hayes cover.
Yassss 🙌🙌😍😍
Is agree
Fast Car-Tracy Chapman! Would love to hear Keith’s take on what makes a song sound nostalgic besides the lyrics.

How can I get you guys to react to my country single?
The pride of Jenkins Kentucky. Gone entirely too soon
Maybe you should do Frank Zappa's "Your an Asshole! Remember this song, sang alone ‼️
