im building a jem woody tribute. i used my cnc to carve the body from african mahogany. bought the dimarzio dark matter2 pickups, edge 2 trem, gotoh 510 tuners. i made a pickguard out of brass as well as the rear covers which will be magnetically held in their recessed pockets. its not exactly the woody but just a tribute. im using an ibanez 5 way with a switch and a push pull on tone for a 7 way tone control. im not branding it with ibanez branding but instead my Q5 Graphics logo. the neck is a quilted maple tree of life that i bought on ebay. it had crappy fretwork so i fixed it and scalloped the last 4 frets. im in the process of tru-oil finishing the body now and still waiting on an ibanez 5 way switck from banzai music in germany. im making a pia for my granddaughter next in purple since its her favorite color and i have a spare set of brass covers and pickguard for it.

ive been looking at clone ibanez's for a while and have been thinking that if i just made it a project and swapped out all the electronic components and hardware that it would be a good f around guitar i can drag around and not treat like its made of glass and this video makes me feel confident in that

FYI that's not an Ibanez Edge on the Jr - it's the Ibanez Standard Double Locking (DL) Trem. It's more akin to a Floyd Rose trem than any Edge variant

@@GuitarLessonsMadeEasy Nope it was a perfect fit. I did put a Gotoh in another and I had to keep the original studs, and take the backplate off, cause they come w/ a larger brass block, but both trem's are still great..

I have a replica too. I put all the pups in the garbage and added a strat switch, new pots (coil split) a Duncan trembucker/hot ceramic/SD mini. I love this guitar...the Floyd isn’t perfect but the axe is legit (pun)

It's DiMarZIO, not zheeo. There is no "H" sound in that word. The Z is actually pronounced.
The Premium JEMs are mass produced Indonesian made JEMs. They aren't rare. Saying there are very few of them is not true.

Very easy to see your Genius. You have an eye for quality. Sounds like you're finally expanding your brand on the internet. Don't be afraid to join up with other channels and get your name out there. I've seen TH-cam channels double their subscriptions just buy interviewing on someone else's Channel. Good luck.

how much for the custom linseed oil guitar...$$$
seriously it looks really good, and a LOT of work .
I just put a warmoth Scalloped SS 24 fret on a standard strat and needed a custom pick guard cut for that at Terrapin guitar in WA
I really need a good 7 string though.
    nobody reviews them!

Couldn’t be any worse than the actual Ibanez. I bought the SFG and sent it back the next day. Stripped screw holes, input jack not painted, paint drips in trem cavity...

"The lions claw comes down a little too far" Thats an understatement. Its at least 2" too long. No clue what kind of trem that is but it doesnt look anything like the Edge.

They use just chinese made generic floyds.. anyone buying these need to understand that these guitars will need hardware and electronics. i have bought a few over the years and the one's I get are copies of guitars you can't really find anymore.. like "graphics" or colors etc. For example. The Ibanez JPM.. Real ones are so hard to find and so collectible they're going to run in the 3-6 thousand range for a guitar that is used and 25 years old. So basically, you get a cheap copy, upgrade the heck out of it and then you have a pretty decent guitar that looks like a guitar you've always wanted but can't find or afford. or you hang in on the wall and call it wall art..

Ryan T it’s been way more practical for me to buy old RG 550’s. You can find them for as low as $350. Get the frets dressed and leveled and you’re good to go.

That "lions claw" rout looks absolutely ridiculous. I was considering ordering one of these since they're pretty cheap, but I'm glad I checked out your video. Think I'll save time and just flush $300 down the toilet. 😉 So I guess the reason none of the Chinese knockoff listings show a clear pic of the front of the head stock is to keep from practically forcing the real manufacturers to take some kind of action, like at least get 'em booted off ebay, since that's probably about all they can do... The knockoff makers should up prices a little and at least improve the quality so it's on par with entry level real Ibanez guitars. I have an LP style Ibanez I paid $200 for new several years ago, and it doesn't have any glaring flaws. It even played surprisingly well, which is why I grabbed it. I don't think I just got lucky either, because I've heard others say that they're amazing for what they cost.
There must literally be zero quality control on the knockoffs. Kind of a shame for those of us only interested in them to play them, but I suppose if they were decent quality all sorts of bottom feeders would try to resell them as the real thing. So maybe the fact that they're crap is actually a good thing. I just wish they'd leave the fake logos off and improve the quality because what Gibson, for example, charges for the mediocre assembly line guitars they're making these days borders on the criminal.

Reading this gave me a headache, the lions claw looks fine, its made in china its not going to be a great player at least without work or parts, and if they spent more time on them in the factory theyd cost more lol, epiphone and squire are making good cheap guitars these days, but if your a real player and looking for the best playing guitar just buy a strandberg, i have 2

You paid 200 too much while giving money to the Chinese economy. You are a super nice guy with great video's and I can relate as to why you reviewed this guitar. I myself have been tempted my times by that Alibaba company. Thank you for verifying my gut feelings not to buy from them. Yes I am boycotting as many Chinese items as possible since the pandemic. A bit extreme I even gave up Chinese food. But still respect and love my Chinese American friends. 90 percent of my instruments are USA top shelf guitars so it is rare for me to consider a MIC or MIK. Crafted in Japan is cool and remotely Indo is conditional. I live and gig in Nashville and prefer to be seen performing with good quality instruments. Any way, thanks for your video's and take care.

    • @jodianna1240

@@PhpGtr Hahaha, excellent good example of how a once great nation got sold out. It won't matter , with our present government policies we will sell us out to China. They will own us. So like most people that have no say in the future of America, keep buying Made in China garbage . As I said, where ever I can, I boycott non American products. Smart phones and computers from China, we no longer have a choice. But with guitars we still do, until Companies like Fender take that choice away. Also the electric car that is being force fed to us for our better will destroy what's left of the little bit of USA technology in cars. It's not just the Chinese, things like wheat cereal from Russia and Canada. Once a great USA product. End it with the most controversial topic today, my guns which I am planning on keeping are only made in America too. Brandon ain't getting my Henry.
