🚨 REMINDER: I am NOT doing any GIVEAWAYS! Any comment you receive asking you to contact them via Telegram are scams! The bots are now using my profile photo to spread the scam to other videos as well, please do not fall for it! And no, unfortunately blocking bots do not work because they somehow can create new accounts quickly. I've already done my best to block common keywords they use but now they're invading other TH-camrs' videos lol 🙈

This is a great video about focus! Thank you :). Are there any tips / techniques where I can focus my food photos better? The iPhone seems to do a better job of having my whole plate in focus. My A7RV seems to focus only one portion of my plate at f/7 (Everything else is sort blurred out at the same angle). Is there a technique to widen my focus without focus bracketing?

Quick question but I think you answered it. I had some focus breathing trying my very first overhead filming of a cutting board for a cooking video. Lots of arm movement, chopping food and so on.... If I just choose a smaller focus point on the cutting board I think this should fix the problem. Let me know if you have any other tips. Using a ZV-E10 for the overhead shooting. Thanks for the awesome content as usual. 👍

nice tuto. I am fan of street pphotography. But I have difficulties to focus people in street with a7IV + 24-70GM2... I am using af-c, eye recognition, F/4 min 1/250sec, auto iso, zone tracking and i am pointing my camera to a guy running not so fast, people walking to me, bicycler,... and there is no box on head while my iphone 12 pro max detects any face. only when guy,... is close to me face ad eye switch on but too late for a "feet-head" shoot. What do i do wrong ? i see lot of video with a7III where a guy photographs his wife in garden at 20m and there is a green square on face.
So, today i am stuck with spot tracking which works perfectly but a pity not having "the best eye AF on world" working. I have switched from Z6II to have a good face detection !
I have also noticed on a marketplace that the a7IV detetcs lot of faces with grey squares on faces and when i press shutter, none of them is selected but refocusing on a near subject like a pole,... strange, isn't it ?

I've been a canon shooter for 20 years and have switched to Sony. I run 2 A1 bodies in G master lenses mainly for still but focus is focus. On canon, when using a long lens, the canon would snap to the subject every time without hunting. I found that Sony has to hunt for every shot. This slows my response time down and also causes blurry or out of focus shots when the camera overrides the focus. It's a tough change since everyone I've seen says Sony is sooo fast. This happens in controlled studio environments and uncontrolled environments. Any suggestions? I've shit with face and eye off as well as on and same result.

Woo.. Zeiss shots! I'm convinced the 85 is filled with some sort of magic color dust. It renders soooo nice.
In an alternate universe where I didn't get stuck on mostly zooms, I have only the Zeiss 25, 40, 85, and 135. That universe won.

a7iii/a7riii has semi eye-tracking, if there is more people in frame you can choose one using smaller area point (less than wide/zone) and it will stick while you hold button even if you point at other people.

A dumb question: the tracking point stays in the object while the shutter button is half pressed? If not pressed the camera will track the object but not change the focus length? I don’t own a Sony camera but wondering how it works.

a6300/a6500 sony had AF in wide focus area as if you had focus puller that read your mind about what should be in focus...
since a73, a6400 and a7s3 etc.., every new camera just did not have usable wide focus area. It would get stuck to something until it leaves the frame completely... I honesly hate af on a7s3/fx3 and fx30 and find it weird no one talked about it, ever.
People with all these new cams around me actually can't believe how much better a6300 does it without any interaction with camera, touchscreen or narrowing AF area.. but then again they entered Sony world after a6300/6500 so they don't know any better.
