@@Z64sportsHey, why would players have to be forward compatible? Pokémon already proved that you can have your fans eat up new releases even if you don't offer compatibility with many older characters.
As a collector, lover of cute cartoonish designs, and figures in general, especially ones that work in tandem with games via NFC... this series was made to drain my wallet. I've collected so many of them and honestly, once you get past the absurd original price tag, it's a very cool idea. I mean I originally bought a few figures just because Toys R Us was doing a mass clearance and I was already grabbing some for my niece and nephew to mess around with. Little did I know it would kickstart my curiosity and I wound up buying Imaginators on Switch, built up more of my collection and the rest is history. I wish it were still active, honestly. If nothing else so that the last released figures were a tiny bit more common and couldn't be scalped for egregious prices online. Ro-Bow and Wild Storm are cool Skylanders. I may never own them, though, because they're fucking expensive.
Oh man, Skylanders: Spyros Adventure. Even though it was a very weird but awesome concept with physical toys in video games, I’m very nostalgic for this game specifically.
Fun fact: this was my first Scott the Woz video. I just randomly got recommended the Toys to Life video like a year and a half ago and for some reason I decided to watch an hour long video about the topic since I liked Skylanders when I was in middle school. Only a few months ago was I suddenly recommended more Scott the Woz videos, and I was like "hey, I remember this guy". Suddenly I was watching a bunch of his videos, both on main channel and on the Stash. And here I am now, years late to the Scott the Woz party.
Definitely didn’t expect Skylanders to be the one Scott would give the most praise to, given how maligned it is for almost everyone else compared to Disney Infinity, LEGO Dimensions and amiibo.
I think the hate for Skylanders mainly came down to how it treated Spyro. He's ostensibly the main leader of the Skylanders, but he's pushed aside for wholy original characters... plus the Skylanders incarnation of him is kinda disgusting.
It's not hard to understand, really. Anyone who has actually *played* Skylanders and gotten into collecting them knows the games are genuinely fun experiences. The greed of Activision can't change the fact that Toys for Bob are good at what they do, but it can definitely sour the perception of it all. ...and yeah, using Spyro as their mascot and turning him into a pug was a horrible move, but despite my absolute love for Spyro and my disdain for the choice of redesign, I've grown to love my Mega Ram Dark Spyro. It's so different from Spyro himself that I can pretend it's not and I like the design. Gen 1 Skylanders Spyro was pretty ugly, but it improved over time as more toys came out. Loosened the edges, puffed out his forehead a little and made him kinda cute.

Hey skylanders don’t take 5hrs to restart it’s just when you run out you have to restart the level. If one dies during the play through of a level they can’t be used in that same run unless you restart from the beginning of the level. I don’t know where you got a 5 hour recharge from
It annoys Scott did an entire toys to life video and DIDN'T even talk about U.B.Funkey's which was the first toys to life game and started the whole gimmick
What a snippet. Scott Driver San Francisco don't toy with us or other racing/driving games or cool mechanics....... it is still interesting to compare the toys to life though. Even playing Legend of Spyro again is interesting. Publishing in other regions, but yeah Wii U JP only though huh. Yeah 5 hrs..... A minigame or something would have been fine, otherwise it is dodgey. Real time anything sucks but it is magical even if NFC for the toys. Ah completionist all toys or just each life, side areas, beat em up gameplay that's basic it works but it a bit awkward. Just go with what can then buy them clearly. Then again the games are easy to find in stores the toys aren't. But cheap and worthless. Yeah I'm not into co-op games of the time their fine but overly done and basic. Some are fair but others are really dull.
As a kid, toys to life always seems like the coolest thing.
I always wanted Madden ultimate team to be more like that using physical cards

Same. I loved it. It really sold the magic to me as a stupid fuckin nine year old. I'm so nostalgic for the first three games.
It always makes me laugh that Scott can't just take a static shot of something. It has to move like he's showing it off on The Price is Right 😂
