Cricut Design Space Cardinal Pop up card tutorial

  • Unfortunately I missed filming the section on how to attach the Cardinal to the card inserts.
    Once you have the Cardinal and branch put together you do the following. The score lines (at either end of the branch) have to be folded. The vertical score lines fold in towards the bird and the horizontal score lines fold outwards (away from the bird) to form tabs. The easiest way to attach the completed bird to the insert cards is to fold down the bird and slide the tabs into the inserts (it will look like a closed book at this point) The bird is lined up with the leaves on the right lower side and the berries on the left higher side. The insert with the branch coming out of the corner goes on the right side. I use double sided tape to tape the tabs to the back of the insert card prior to taping the insert cards to the card itself.

    I have mande this card twice now and it is a bit tricky. I found that if you hold the bird once it's all together by the top (back and bottom of body) it is easier to add to the branches. Also, if you flatten the bird (like it will be in the closed card) sometimes it is easier to add the branches. Patience and persistence are the keys. Thank you for a great tutorial as always. 👍🤩

    You are the ONLY person I've run across that does this type of pop-up. Your videos have been so well done that I've been able to make the Christmas tree and cupcake pop-up cards. However, I need more visual instruction on the attachment of this cardinal pop-up, as the written instructions aren't working for me. Would you PLEASE consider doing an abbreviated video showing the attachment of the cardinal to the card so I can make it?
    This technique is so superior to others on TH-cam who attach their various pop-ups by simply gluing them on the top of the inside cardstock instead of into a slot and gluing underneath. Yours are a much better and impressive way to do this.

      Yeah, I messed up on the recording part of this video. I do have plans on remaking the video to show the attachment of the bird/log to the card (just haven't had time). Doing an abbreviated video is a great idea.

    Thanks for the additional info on the bird insert tabs I was able to figure it out looking at the video at the end.. (maybe?) My trouble was the left panel was quite a bit higher than the right- and to make it match, I was wrecking things…. Next time I’m going to tape the tabs down in back after I get those lined up better. Also, I found that before I glued the envelope together, I put the card in and then glued it shut since it’s definitely a bit thicker. Have to try a 2nd one to work out my issues !

      Glad my extra info helped. I found this one is more finicky then the other pop up ones.. Hope your 2nd one works out better for you.

    Could you please upload this as a pdf file online instead? Not everyone has Cricut subscription as it is very costly, and it would be very appreciative if you could.❤

      @seatonecreations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sorry, it is a Cricut file so I do not have permission to share it. I know the Access subscription is expensive. You should be able to purchase the project only then you will have project linked to your Design Space account and can cut it out as many times as you like. Hope that helps.

      I messed up recording and lost the part where the bird attaches. Hope these instructions help you: The score lines (at either end of the branch) have to be folded. It would be helpful to explain that a heavier weight cardstock works best here. And also, to let crafters know -- even those experienced at Cricut cardmaking-- how easy it is to crush or maim the poor bird in the process of attaching it to the branches. This card is tricky and takes some serious time and effort-- along with the potential for substantial waste of supplies - to complete. The finished project does not fold closed as smoothly as similar cards-- and may result in bending portions of the pop-up when opening and closing, unless great care is taken.

    No instructions on how to put the cardinal on the inside pieces of the card

    • @seatonecreations
      @seatonecreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My apologies, not sure how I didn't film that part.
      There are 2 score lines on each side. Fold in towards the cardinal then fold out away from the cardinal.
      Fold down the cardinal, slide the tabs into their corresponding slits on the card inserts (it should be folded closed) and tape/glue down the tabs. The side of the Cardinal with the green leaves should face the bottom of the card.

    You seriously need to add a video/visual for how to attach the bird to the card. I was having so much fun making this, but ended up at the height of frustration. Your written instructions don't make sense to me, and pieces of the branches (with leaves) are all bent and I need to start over. Very disappointed.
