- Willie le Roux is one of the most underrated players in the world. He does a ton of off-the-ball stuff that seems to always go under the radar. Most Springboks fans have a love hate relationship with him and his style of play. Sometimes he can make silly mistakes but boy when he is on fire, that whole backline of the Springboks switches a gear!
He's a special player and was a massive part in the world cup win for the Springboks. He showed his pedigree again in the Springboks vs Argentina match today where he made the Mapimpi try with his vision.

My pleasure! Glad you liked it! Yeah he really does a lot of stuff that we sometimes can't see on the broadcast view. But I love the wide shots when you can see his movement or like his hand signals. He also gets everone at the right position in attack.
Haha sometimes he will make the silly mistake. But I think it's safe to say what he provides for the team outweighs the one or 2 silly mistake
He is poetry in motion in rugby with great finesse and ability to read the game better than most.
I used to criticize him during the world cup until i noticed the role he plays in the team. One the best. Some of us call (majaivana) the dancer.
Haha yeah but in you defence, he did make some silly mistakes during the WC😂. But yeah, he plays a much bigger role than just a normal Fullback. He had a great game today!

A very good player,many people don't see his quality.his ability to draw opposition players so that he can send a teammate through for a try is what makes him dangerous.its not just about throwing a pass it's when you throw the pass that counts.
His brilliance will only be truly recognized years from now. Ask Erasmus. He knows.

Willie is an incredible full back. He should be remembered as the best of the 2nd rate fullbacks in springbok history behind only Andre Venter and Percy Montgomery and others
I think you missed one where he made a try saving tackle on Henshaw during the first test

I suppose if you look past the odd wayward/shocker pass he does do a lot of positive things.
His pass to put Kolbe away in the 3rd Lions test was perfection.
Without him the bok backline is hopeless .

Lekker but you should include the crucial direction switch he called which led to DDA’s try in the World Cup semi-final against Wales.
Again , rugby IQ off the scale and absolutely ruthless, especially for broken down play and counter attacks. What Willie shows is that you don’t need to be a speed demon or a even a particularly big guy to be world class. You just need true rugby intelligence and awareness…

The try was disallowed though.... the pass looked fine on a different angle but they disallowed the try saying he ws in front of the kicker....

Pitty people dont like him,since andrè joubert willie is the best no.15 in sa..most underated player last 4y....we called andrè rolce royce from the fullbacks and willie is even faster offloads better un predictable plan and score maker.....i would rate willie and andre the same calibers....

He's definitely not in his prime anymore but he's still very valuable. But yeah SA probably has to start thinking about 2023. Seems like Fassi is going to replace him when the time comes. But a lot can still happen
Who do you think can do what Willie does right now. Him and AM are best readers of the game. Willie runs crazy lines, communicates and tracks plays ridiculously.

@@divad8727 I agree I don't think we got the best out of Kriel. We are very light in experience at full and flyhalf due to covid we lost a year of playing.
