He went to HR but was afraid to report it because even back THEN they were afraid she would twist it around and the woman has ALWAYS been believed. If you wanna go back to the 30s or something fine. But the last basically century men are rarely believed. Look at Michael Irvin this week. Ruined a good man. "ME TOO" was never about anything except more walking on egg shells by men. And it's not just white men, black men as I just stated are just as vulnerable. It's really sickening. This movie was aggravating. The man was as faithful as a man as they get and SEE what a woman that you politely reject can do to you. And your family. The man lost his wife for 3 months and if not for a movie maybe permanently because women sadly always believe other women. He could've lost his job. Lost all his income to a bitter divorce and begging for nickels. Now imagine a truck driver as opposed to a hedge fund guy. This movie is a learning experience for men sadly. It shouldn't be but this is the society most (not ALL) women want. Men need to live in fear and tip toe on egg shells. In the workplace especially because even a refusal can sometimes turn into THIS and have your life ruined. One hand you accept you can ruin your life and be GUILTY of cheating and adultery as a sin. Other you refuse and be a loyal man and you can be GUILTY of made up things that WILL be believed by the powers that be in an HR department, your own wife possibly, and society at large. Sounds like a lose/lose fellas!

This was 7-8 years before that movement and the man was still afraid to report it for fear of it being twisted around by HER and knowing people would believe HER lying. It's a dangerous trend. Was even back then in 2009. I'm glad they made this movie. It was a lesson for even faithful men that you can lose EVERYTHING by simply bumping into the wrong woman on an elevator. Doesn't take an affair to lose your family and livelihood. You could very well be just being a good, loyal family man and STILL be at risk of that with lies, gossip, slander, and an unstable person. Shame.

Derek was assaulted and harassed and stalked. Derek, like most victims, didn’t want to tell anyone for the fear of how it would look, what it would do to his marriage, job and reputation. That was the only “mistake” he made. Because he didn’t say anything, she kept coming and amping up the crazy until she tried to kill his wife. But then again, him saying something could have made it worse anyway. It’s a lose/lose situation.
