- Happy New Year!!! I'm not quite back at the beach yet, but this special day has made me want to share a special unboxing! I was absolutely thrilled to recieve these amazing shells: so many murexes, abalone, and even a juvenile Queen Conch... wow!! Thank you so much Ruth!!

This was just in my recommended, and I really wanted something wholesome to watch on my lunch break. Never seen your videos before, but I absolutely love how excited you get over something like shells. I love rocks and fossils, and have a very deep interest in paleontology and archeology. I love seeing people get excited for nature’s trinkets, it brings me so much joy and I’m so glad I found this channel. Happy new year, everyone

I don't make a ton of shell unboxing videos; I'm usually the one out at the beach collecting the shells instead. I am very interested in your hobbies too - finding fossilised seashells in places around Australia is definitely a bucket list dream of mine. I don't really know anything about the names of these fossils, or ricks either (I might(?) be able to distinguish quartz from jasper as my best attempt at lapidary identification), but I think these pieces of nature are just as interesting and beautiful as anything I find at the beach. I’m very interested in sea life, and animals in general. This channel has brought me so much joy and curiosity since I found it a month ago. Is there any way I could send a gift your way? Awesome! I just started to follow Ruth on IG…thx! I have lots of SWF Shell Guides swag-I love Ali’s shell pattern on her items. She teams up with the guide I go out with. Lovely person w/the couple short interactions I’ve had w/her ❤ Lots of beautiful shells! 🐚 That joined flat scallop was stunning! Awesome murex shells! Of course I love the FL shells-yeah the FL mini shells for me at least get overlooked. We are not yelling! 🤣 You did great in the screen IDs 👍🏼 The tulips at 1st can be tricky b/c the both have banding. That is a stellar rose murex w/the full tail! Beautiful candle-work hard, play hard…she is blessed and so are you ❤

Ruth sent you some treasures! I'm so jealous as this past summer I travelled to Honeymoon Island to go shelling and had no luck. The beach was a madhouse-overrun with people. Sadly, I left with very few shells (couldn't even find a Fighting Conch!). Thursday I'm heading back. Hoping the beach will be empty and I can find some beauties. Thank you for your content, Maddie!

@ShellingAdventures G'day Maddie 😊🎅🌲Yes, sometimes the viewing speed increases and I can watch the video, and that time I was lucky🙂 Yes, Maddie, I have shells from Florida, of course the most significant for Florida is Triplofusus giganteus, commonly known as the Florida horse conch, or the giant horse conch. This is the second largest gastropod with a shell in the world. The largest is found in Australia😉 - the unique giant Syrinx aruan🤗🤗🤗
And so there are often mollusks from the genera Sinistrofulgur, Fasciolaria, which, by the way, Triplofusus giganteus happily catches and eats😅. Even such large mollusks as Aliger gigas can become its prey. In general, there are a lot of shells in Florida and, apparently, the Florida horse snail eats all that it encounters along the way😹😹😹😋🐚🐚🐚

G’day Natalia 👋🏻💖 Happy New Year 🎉🎉🎉 That New Zealand Venus is amazing 🤩 and yes, it’s so similar to the Wedding Cake Venus shells here in southern Australian waters because it’s from the same scientific genus: Bassina. Saying that though, my Jackson’s Venuses from the home beach are also from that same genus, and they look nothing alike 😅 Oh my goodness, the hinged New Zealand Scallop was certainly the perfect embodiment of “the ultimate treasure” wasn’t it!!
Ahhh, you are about the 6th person who’s told me that in the last few months, I’m not even kidding 😂 and I agree, but I still have one more big unboxing up me sleeve (I like to space them out) so I’m thinking I’ll do a cabinet video in 6-8 weeks time? You should have heard my gasp when you pulled it out. 😮 My next favorites were the OPERCULUMS!!! Gosh I love those things! In some parts of the world they have colors. I’ve been to the Grand Caymans on cruises, just isn’t ideal for shell looking. I was so disappointed, but I did get to swim with stingrays. 😳🫣😳 Maddie, I finally got my card mailed to you. @ it’s winter here now so the only people that go to the beach in Florida right now are usually from up north where I live because to us it feels pretty good. The locals think we’re all crazy.😊

Hi Maddie, I really like watching your videos, especially the unboxings. I learned about some of the good spots for shelling in Texas from the one where you got shells from someone who IIRC lives in Texas but also travels along the Gulf Coast down to Florida. SWF Beach Life is the channel that got me into watching shelling videos. I don't know why YT recommended that first one to me but it guessed right. By following other recommendations and links I now also follow you, Echoue Bijoux, Solace in Shelling, Shelling With Plum Island Sea Cabin, Shell Stories and a couple of other FL shellers. You might like Solace in Shelling because he travels a lot, mostly between Maine and south FL, east and west but he stops in between also especially in MA, NY, and NC. He also travels to places in the Caribbean, so far I've seen Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico and maybe Jamaica. Shell Stories is mostly in NC and it is interesting to see some of the shells are the same as FL and some are not. I'm fascinated by some of the New England species that are large because of the colder water - not as showing looking but a different ecology.

Yes indeed, you channel recommendations are so on-point! I know of them; they are all super passionate, and wonderful content creators with their own presentation styles. SWF Beach Life is of course the queen of shelling! I also like watching Roxann on Florida Beach Walks; I feel like her presentation clicks with me the best? Though Solace in Shelling is blessed to travel to so many exotic places to search for shells; it's interesting to see what he finds. I supposed I'm blessed with the beaches around me too; a few different environments between the coastlines has a wide variety of shells to find! As always Beverly, thank you so much for watching!~

G'day Brenda 👋🏻🐚❤️ Ahhh, sorry about that 😂 in all honesty, I was going to have one out at the usual time a few days ago, but the beach has almost no shells after the peak tourist season (I went back yesterday and found a few more for another video). However, after that initial non-success, I went to Hervey Bay and found plenty 🎉 so the new video will at the usual time today/tomorrow (whatever your time zone is 😉) in about 8 hours from the time I reply to you. It's extra long to hopefully satisfy the withdrawals 🏖️🙏🏻🐚

I looked it up a while ago, and I believe (?) that 'conk' is American English, and 'conch' is British English, so both are technically a correct pronunciation 😉 and that's what I'll keep telling myself! @ Fair, fair 😂 Oh yes, they’d definitely say “conk” on the islands! For me, I just can’t look at the word “conch” and say “conk” so I guess it’s always down to personal preference too…though if I had a friend that felt strongly about it, I’d mention my view respectfully, then just go with the flow 😉 I recon he’d be upset at hearing conch said ‘incorrectly’ and that’s totally fine 🤣
How about an exchange? I send you some seashells from Persian Gulf, and some of my crafts with seashells and beads, you send me some seashells from your place, if you're ok, let me know.
G'day again 👋🏻🐚 Aww I'm sorry, but I'm not quite looking to do any overseas exchanges right now; not only because of the time to make a package and the cost to send it away, but also because I have given away a lot of shells last year so I never have a huge amount outside of my personal collection to send away. But I'm curious for the future: what kind of shells do you find in the Persian Gulf? I tried to look up some species but had a lot of difficulty (I was perhaps because I searched for websites in English?). Anyhoo! The answer is not right now 😅 and not sure when 😆 but thank you for watching and for the interest!!
