For anyone wondering, the X4's are the lightest skate other than the super flimsy sub $150 models, so with them you save a good bit of weight while keeping elite levels of protection and stiffness. 810 grams in a size men's 8. That's like 120 grams lighter than top spec $900-$1200 skates that in my opinion are entirely too heavy, like having your feet stuck in mud.
Awesome review guys! Lots of time and effort obviously went into making it! Woukd love to see more videos like this. Also. Would be great to see on your website for the source exclusive skates (and other gear), what the base starting skate is and a list of upgrades added. Would make figuring out what to buy so much easier :). I see it on a few models like this. But not all.
hockey socks would probably help give you much more feel and actually a little more room in the skate since cotton grabs the liner and expands inside the skate
If he would have tested the True skates with proper sizing, I guarantee, that both models would be in the Top3. I've been playing for almost 4 decades and have worn about 35-40 pairs of all(!) brands. Concerning comfort and performance, nothing beats a True skate, closely followed by Grafs.
I heard that True skates have a more aggressive forward lean to them, I have been tempted but when I call around to ask shops how to change the lean, I get different answers from all of them everywhere from profiling to you need to change the holders to it's the boot it's self have you experienced the lean forward and have you corrected it?
i also heard from friends that their mid tier models are very awesome but they needs to be baked to be a true confort fit. They also over the cheapest thermoformable models. that is quite nice.
i just ordered bauer mach before watching this video and its an upgrade from bauer x-lp, and damn happy to see the mach first place cant wait to try them out only thing im not sure about is the supreme vs vapor thing i dont even know what kind bauer x-lp are tho
I think such a leaderboard would be only valid if you at least have a sample of 5 persons trying them. One sample, one foot shape makes the tests non conclusive.
The more i watch this video, the more i see that this man knows his skates.. but at the same time the more i see that this man’s foot shape is a tapered in ccm/fit 1 in bauers. Is there a ‘trying on every skate’ (part 2) to this when the ft8 😄 series… release?
Why would you have him test True skates if you’re not going to bake them? That’s the whole point of their skate lines. Also since when are the lower price point skates supposed to be the most comfortable?
Why would he bake them if he’s not going to buy them all he’s doing if trying to see what skate he wants they’re not going to bake every skate they make him try on cmon man use your head
@@TristonMyran Without baking the skate you won't know how it actually feels like...this whole video is useless, it's as if he tested sticks flexes without shooting a puck
I am satisfied with your review. Maybe more in depth. Try skating comparison between high end models, on ice. I approve the use of demos, bauer, ccm and true.
- It's weird that you are weighting all four factors equally. - The graphic should show average score, not total score. - Would also like to see a chart showing the actual vs perceived weight
Love my Tacks ASV Pros tried jetspeeds they were nice went to the Tacks my skating was way better. I guess what I am saying is the Tacks are better suited for me.
Luke already owns the Matrix skate so he knows what it feels like and we didn't have his size in at the moment but the Matrix skate is a really great skate for the money and visually very similar to the Mach.
Like the way bauers look, but their skate are always IMPOSSIBLY narrow! I do not understand how anyone could fit into bauers. Even fit 3 was crushing my foot because it was so narrow. You all must have pencils for feet. Why are hockey skates always so narrow? I never have this problem buying shoes, but finding off the shelf skates with enough width has been next to impossible. So much pain.
Guys, now I need access to the chart you created that shows your breakdown. Also, would be nice to know the guy's foot size and maybe any other parameters. Would be even one notch better if you could include which skates come with trigger release chassis, or black steel. Those are huge price bumps that I may want.
People gotta start judging out of 5 not 10 too broad of spectrum and it’s inconsistent. Like how is everything just a 6 or a 7 and the dude liked the vapors more at the beginning but they got a lower score like what?
Does this tell you anything? Any skate over $100.00 has flow fit, and needs to be heated up. What do you learn except what fits this reviewer's foot for walking around? If feeling comfortable when you pull it on in the store was what mattered skates would look like Ughs. But you wouldn't be able to skate on them. A salesman told me years ago why low to mid range roller blades look so different from hockey skates. He said novice skaters want comfort above all, so those skates are made to be comfortable to stand in from day 1. And then you pay for that day one as long as you own the skates, because it's impossible to skate properly in them.

Glad you enjoyed the review and thanks for the input we can definitely bring that up with our web team!
Fantastic! Thank you. Would be great to easily see the differences between the M5 Pro and Matrix. X5 Pro and X Shift Pro….etc. :)

and it is even written on the box that they need to be baked EVEN for just trying on... or else they will always be too small out of the box...
Lmao i just bought roller blades and he was the guy who helped me out
Nice! Thanks for stopping by 😁
What are the one u bought? i have bauer rsx

The Machs are awesome! You made a great choice.
Just bought some FT670s so I'm glad you didn't absolutely sh*t on them lmao great video guys

Yea can you redo video but bake all the skates?
Rigged
@@TristonMyran He wouldn't. But true skates have to be baked to fit properly unlike Bauer and ccm can be worn straight out of the box.

We can definitely try to compare some skates on ice in the future!

Mach gang. Put on about 5 different skates and once I popped those bad boys on that was all she wrote. Two years now and they’ve held up great.
Machs are so great!
what skates are you guys rocking?
Machs they are so good
I'm in the matrix and love em, but I have a bit too much play in the heel, but past the return window...😢
Tacks Vector Premier lots of upgrades for a mid teir skate.
Graf's baby still the best!!!
Currently Jetspeeds but might consider switching to something else due to ongoing discomfort
Would've been nice to know this man's foot measurements, don't ya think? And if he is trying on the same size skates.
He tells you, size 8 …he’s asks on a couple of skates if there a size 8 👍
Now try every stick in the atore
Might have to!
why no Jetspeed Control??
Love my Tacks ASV Pros tried jetspeeds they were nice went to the Tacks my skating was way better. I guess what I am saying is the Tacks are better suited for me.
Why wouldn't you try him in the matrix? I wanna see how the Mach and matrix compare in a blind test....

@@thehockeyshop gotcha, I was just curious to how he compared the fit and feel between the two...
I thought the M4 has better heel lock and just as good or better power transfer as the Matrix. If only the M4 had a better liner it would be perfect.
@@calgary2800 funny you say that, because the lack of heel lock is EXACTLY my complaint with the matrix, the only one.
@@andrewsheldon604 I sold the Matrix recently. It was only used 3 times and mint. Yeah, the heel lock was not that good.
What skate did you buy?
I’ve checked online and seen that the machs aren’t on sale
The Mach skate will be on sale on our website May 10th
Ok thanks
When are the new Supremes and Vapors coming out ?
@@calgary2800supremes this month, vapors next year.

Luke wears a size 8 skate!
@@thehockeyshop is he normally a 9 or 10 in sneakers?
Who’s that handsome skate fitter?
FT6 Pro easy 10/10 in comfort IMO
FT6 Pros are awesome
For some reason the overall rating went up with the price going up
I’ll keep my FT4 Pro’s all day.

skate different hollows w/out knowing them :)
That's a fun idea!
Hollow alone is too simple. Finding the best profile and the shallowest hollow that works would be more interesting.
Trues were clearly the wrong size for him? Why squash his toes and then expect him to rate comfort? Just give him the next size up?!
Can you do a Brock faber TJ
nah his TJ dust and generic, they already done other players who tape their stick the same way
