Please bear with me for this is kinda long. I just graduated from HS, when this song got popular around '86-87 in the Philippines. lm still so naive, clueless and nerdy young boy when I got madly in love with this "out of my league" girl in one of my freshmen college class. (Beauty, height, brain, etc...the works plus her family are well known in politics) and of course, all guys are eyeing her. So, among other many things, I'll lovingly serenade her with this song at her back while sitting, waiting for our teacher to arrive in our class. I still remember thats the first time she brings out her sweetest smile (Our friends will giggle and thought im playing, but deep down, im not) after months of silly jokes, corny love notes and awkward serenades, thanks to this song I won her and she become my girlfriend to the surprise of the whole class, and many still doesn't believe for its, well... out of my league!. (no pda. Its a filipino culture back then) After almost 6 yrs she become my wife and I sang this song on our wedding. Presently, we are blessed with beautiful 4 children and 5, adorable grandchildren. And yes. we are still very much in love. 💘 ...looking back somehow i still can't believe it Wow! and we just celebrated our 27th year anniversary. (July 2020). This song is one of my late mother's favorites. I remember the time when my parents were still together, Coastal Mall Uniwide, Harrison Plaza and Boom na Boom are the best places to go during the early 90's and as a kid unaware of your parents' problems. Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati is the best bougie place to go if you have a little more money to spend. Since my dad worked there as a chef, good food has discounts. Such memories, still you can feel on the cold walls of old buildings, the smell of burger and siopao as pasalubong to your kids and sometimes, like tonight while riding the bus going home... This song always reminds me to never be a cause of ending a good relationship, my wife waits for me at home. God, everyday I am trying to become a good husband like my dad to my late mom and now to her present love.
