  • This Thanksgiving week (here in the U.S.A.), as Mercury starts moonwalking through Sagittarius through December 15th, I reflected on how grateful I am to be able to count on the spiritual, eternal blessings that God has stored up for us (as well as pumpkin pie, miraculous moments in Boston College football history, and Prince songs from 1984). It's a great time to give thanks for the bounty of the Universe (and clean out the basement), to welcome even more abundance.
I found it interesting that the perfect song to accompany Christ the King Sunday, "I Would Die 4 U" from Prince's "Purple Rain" album (like "reign," wink wink) was released forty years ago this week, on November 28, 1984: • Prince - I Would Die 4... (official video) I was 19 that year, breathlessly watching Doug Flutie throw the miraculous winning touchdown pass to Gerard Phelan (on TV) that gave my alma mater Boston College the win over Miami in the final 28 seconds of the game. Forty years seems like five (except the stories get more fantastic every year). / dcud1uvsezv (Flutie-Phelan reunion)
Here's that fantastic football moment, if you missed (or forgot) it: • The story behind Doug ... See what can happen if you pay attention to the magical opportunities available to us in the present moment?
And here's that Prince Christmas song I talked about in the video (admittedly a little less "holly jolly" than the usual fare): • Prince - Another Lonel... (audio of his 12/26/84 performance) I plan on incorporating a lot more Prince songs into my "purple prayer practice" playlist.
OK, one more (in typical Jupiterian fashion), a little plug about the Colt's building with the blue dome and the horse where my Pepere worked back in the 1940s and '50s (during the day, at least): www.nps.gov/co...
Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends! Here's that French Canadian stuffing recipe, tweaked and passed down from my French Canadian ancestors to my 24-year-old son: newengland.com... I use allspice and ground pork, with a little celery salt and poultry seasoning, and simmer it for an hour, ideally in a Dutch oven. You can even make it a day or two ahead and heat it up on Turkey Day. Bon appetit!
