    Honestly I try to explain why fishing mean so much to me and other people but out of all the fishing videos I watch you guys say it the best because it really isn't about the fish its about the information and how these fish fight for their lives everything there hooked they give everything thay have have and just being on the water is an expeirence in of itself fishing taught me more about life and about who I am than school or anything and from what I have seen you guys understand that it isn't just about the game it's about something greater and for that you will always have my sub great video and tight lines.

    Guys, I really enjoy your show. But if you want good sturgeon fishing, you should come to Idaho/Oregon, and fish Hell's Canyon on the Snake River. The biggest fish from the river are documented at 18 feet long. But that was a long time ago. Currently the bigger fish are only 14 feet. Guides know which holes the big ones hang out in, even have names for them.( ie "ringtail"). 8-10 can be caught daily. All fishing is catch and release, so local guides develop a good local knowledge. In the spring when the water is colder, almost all the fish will jump. It is cool to see a 10+ foot fish come all the way out of the water. Fishing can be done on both the Snake and Salmon rivers. The biggest that I have caught is only 10 feet long. But the "big" 6 footer that you guys caught in the Sacremento is considered a small fish on the Snake.

    You should come up to the Columbia River in washington and catch a 10 to 13 foot Sturgeon with us. Sturgeon are the best and so much fun!!! Great video!!!

      We have big fish up here but believe it or not the record was caught down there right by where they were filming. Will never be broken thankfully. Seals do a number on them up here though and its sad...

    I am hooked on them too.
    One day I saw one jump, I ask my friend what was that???
    The hunt was on.
    I took me a minute to figure things out.
    A long minute.
    It’s an art start to finish.
    Once you see the way they act in the water column you think you have them figured out.
    And you get a curve ball some days. Sturgeon on a dead mud sucker one time.
    And I was told, while I was gathering information.
    They don’t bite when they are jumping.
    I like to see them jump now.
    I could go on.
    I Can’t Wait To Fish Now.
    Excellent Day Of Fishing By The Way.
    Bunch of nice clean sturgeon.

    I've seen video's on Gatecrashers before and commented that their crew is like a well oiled machine working those fish. I've been fishing for over 60 years and can say Miss Virginia IS the top as Ali say's of the Fishing Chicks. Ali notice that she was wearing Carhartts and not butt floss apparel like the rest of them you highlight. Hint, hint.

    • @LocalKnowledge
      @LocalKnowledge  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Miss Virginia is an awesome Fisherwoman. I think it would be too cold for that floss apparel. So those Carhartts were ideal :)

    Sturgeon are saltwater also, you catch them in the bay too, not just the rivers! They come into the bay and eat Herring roe, those are my stomping grounds, Sandy Beach and all that bay/river.

    • @LocalKnowledge
      @LocalKnowledge  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! We'd like to catch them anywhere.

      They are an amazing fish. They can thrive in our fresh water rivers, brackish delta, saltwater bays, and open ocean. Sturgeon have been tagged in our Northern California rivers and bays and have later been caught in Oregon's Columbia River! What they do when they are out in the open ocean is still fairly unknown

    Crazy how small the eye on that fish was compared to its body.

    • @LocalKnowledge
      @LocalKnowledge  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They don't use their eyes very much but they can smell like a bloodhound.

  • @barryculloty3352

    I have a much smaller boat, we use a float with our name/info on it in case we nail a hawg, and we can chase it down, we use mono, not spectra soo much though. We like to fish lighter lines too.

    How were you all able to get around the CDFW regulation of not being allowed to take any White Sturgeon over 68 inches out of the water for release?

    • @LocalKnowledge
      @LocalKnowledge  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the fish was carefull measured at 66.5" off camera. Zach and his crew run a top notch outfit and don't mess around.

      When you come to NorCal can you do a meet and greet? I live on the Sacramento Delta, striper and sturgeon are our bread and butter. I can’t imagine what fishing with you guys would be like. My first sturgeon was at 6 and watching my dad drag in a 73” dog was the most amazing experience. Let us know
