That tile is fabulous! I can’t wait till the powder room is complete. It’s so close! About the marble slab, my great-grandparents’ Victorian house (built by a generation or two back in the family) had a slab of marble that the toilet stood on and I lived in a house from the 1910s that had a cast iron piece with decorative flourishes under the toilet. It was definitely a thing! I think you’re smart to buy that lot asap - it would be devastating to have a little, punky, boxy house or, worse, a small 3 or 4 story apartment building tossed in there! Especially when you have such beautiful plans for the space. Congratulations again on your upcoming marriage. The time is going to fly by - think about how it seems like Christmas was only yesterday and then realize that’s the same amount of time until the wedding! So happy for you both! 🥰

Further to my comment yesterday: If you were to decide on a relatively inexpensive wedding, keeping in mind you want to buy the piece of land next to your house and asked all your friends to give you cash towards buying that land too rather than spending on expensive wedding presents, you just might find they are even more generous toward your Land Fund. Time, I think, to find out who owns it [if you don't already know] and see how much it will cost you. Create a wall chart for donations and I'm also sure many of we subscribers will contribute rather than buying you wedding gifts as that would be the best gift of all: SECURING that land for all time!! It's what Beatrix Potter did in the Lake District here in the UK. When she died it was then bequeathed to The National Trust [a conservation organisation] which ensured it would NEVER be built on in a way Potter wouldn't have wanted. Just a thought.

I've never seen tile spacers like those, and at first thought it was a pattern on the tiles, lol. I wholeheartedly support your plan to purchase the lot next door!! You never know what might be built there if you don't. If things change down the road, it could always be sold later. Having survived 18 months of construction right behind my garage, it will be worth the peace of mind. I don't complain when a neighbor is working on their home, but developers are evil. I once owned and lived in a Victorian-style home built in 1901. I use to say it was “the little house that could” because it was a small house but it had all the awesome attributes that the bigger Victorian homes had such as Awesome build-ins in the dining room and bedrooms, beautiful wood flooring, beautiful pocket doors, beautiful crown molding throughout and wainscoting around the dinning room, claw-foot bathtub, windows with the rope pulley, etc. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to leave me beautiful home. Watching your channel has really brought back a lot of memories and so much excitement when I see you restoring all those vintage treasures. Thank you so much for sharing your journey! Caleb, I just thought of something. In the Bathroom, you may want to use a ceramic shoe, or quarter round insted of wood. It would really finish off the floor well. I would even stand white tile on edge at the wall primeter to create additional water resistance between the tile floor and wood wall. John

The real marble had a lip like the one on the sink it was a fear of overflow. They are never just flat marble that would just be silly. They served a purpose.

For the door way in my 1900 home I found a marble door stop with a bevel on each side at Lowes, Yes, Lowes! It was 6-8" X the width of a doorway. Nice work on the pattern!

For the door way in my 1900 home I found a marble door stop with a bevel on each side at Lowes, Yes, Lowes! It was 6-8" X the width of a doorway. Nice work on the pattern!
