if you want to see Darren's acting ability watch; American Crime Story: The Assignation of Gianni Versace. He won an Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG award for that role.
There's a lot of good Glee performances (though they can be a bit overproduced). As a Starkid fan, I tend to mostly watch Darren's songs. A few good ones are when Darren sang live/played live on the show, I think he did Teenage Dream and Against All Odds
yessss I wanted you to react to this as well! Darren is super talented, and despite him doing a slower version of the song i liked it better than the fasten up versions - in Darren's you could understand every word he's saying and feel everything he was feeling. If you want to react to Glee songs, ngl, my favourite are mainly Darren's, essentially because he was the only cast member who sang live in the show... everyone is going to recommend Teenage Dream (Acoustic), but my favourite has to be Against All Odds.
The thing with the lyrics is that for actors they’re the MOST IMPORTANT thing. Lyrics are their script. So they need to be understood. With rappers understanding every word is less important so they maybe don‘t care about it as much
A big fan of Glee... and of Darren Criss. If you want to react to a Glee number were they are just having such fun together try "Love shack". It shows Darrens rarer low register too. Otherwise Lea Michele sings her Final song in the final 6th season "This Time" which Darren Criss actually wrote for the show and it got an Emmy nomination for as an original song!
For great Glee songs, I suggest 'Teenage Dream Acoustic', it's one of my favourite song's that Darren sings. I'd also suggest 'Don't Speak', which I now realise is from the same episode haha :) Loving your reactions by the way!! :)
Glee has so many amazing performances I could recommend but since you’re already familiar with Darren I’d say starting with some of Blaine’s performances (darrens character on the show) would be great!! You should definitely check out “against all odds”, “teenage dream” s4 acoustic version, “cough syrup”, “something’s coming”, “come what may” and “somewhere only we know”:)
Just saw this performance and he was so good! I love how you can tell his character is in the midst of a breakdown the whole way through 😂 I’d love it if you could react to Chris Colfer singing on Glee to hear what you think of his performances, maybe something like Rose’s Turn, For Good, Being Alive... idk there are so many good ones he did but they stand out for me as he’s not Broadway trained at all yet he performs them so well 🙂
For Glee performances, my favorites were the season 2 Valerie performance and the paradise by the dashboard light number. If you want peak Darren, teenage dream was amazing
one of the best patter songs on broadway! my favorite patter song just after it is, ironically, another song about marriage. “Ive Decided to Marry You” from Gentlemens Guide to Love and Murder
I watched Glee all the way through til the series finale. And while the show's plot is....questionable at best (mind-numbingly _infuriating_ at its worst), there are some pretty good performances. Couple of them I liked were "Smooth Criminal," "Valerie", and "Some Nights".
For the world land speed record in this song, look for Heather Laws "Not Getting Married" on TH-cam from the revival of Company from 2006 (with Raul Esparza as Bobby, the lead character). It is amazing. Darren did amazing with this and is right in line with most tempos on the song. Sort of "Amazing Speed" but not "Ridiculous Speed" which is what Heather reaches. Not Getting Married always reminds me of a Gilbert & Sullivan patter song, more than rap, but because Sondheim was very specific about the words following a melody, even if you can't detect it. They just aren't spoken. But one thing the pandemic deprived us of was the revival of Company, which was in previews and within days of opening when it was forced to close, where basically most of the cast was Broadway Backwards -- all the roles were reversed. Instead of Bobby, the lead was a woman named Bobbie. It did feature a gay couple getting married (so a guy sang this song in the show). The production came from London where it swept the Olivier Awards (their equivalent of the Tonys). But it was supposed feature Patty LuPone as Joanne, doing the amazing Ladies Who Lunch. Hopefully it will come back when Broadway returns.
@@behindthecurvereacts personally I love all the Queen performances. And Michael Jackson. And basically anything with Darren Criss doing the lead :D I also really love the mashup of Adele’s Rumor Has It and Someone Like You.
The Glee version of this song is fantastic and based on your reaction to this, it didn't seem like you've actually watched it, so I would definitely suggest you watch that. Jayma Mays does a wonderful job going at that speed. Also, there's a video of Sondheim teaching this song to students at the Guildhall School which I would suggest as well: th-cam.com/video/aR80qiXgMuQ/w-d-xo.html There's also a compilation of several people singing this about "Who Sang the Fast Parts Best?": th-cam.com/video/9dErlxofCDE/w-d-xo.html
Also want to add: Even though Joey Richter and Tessa Netting made cameo appearances in it , stay faaaaar away from Glee's cover of "Baby Got Back". It's awful!!! 🤣
I cannot listen to anything Darren sang on Glee except the acoustic version of „Teenage Dream“ (which is the only one I know where you can hear his actual voice) because of the autotune.
if you want to see Darren's acting ability watch; American Crime Story: The Assignation of Gianni Versace. He won an Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG award for that role.
also he played Hedwig in Hedwig and the angry inch on Broadway which I think you might like
YESSS, he’s amazing ACS, and I would really enjoy watching you react to Sugar Daddy or Midnight Radio from Hedwig w/Darren!

The only glee song I’ve ever seen is uptown girl with Curt Mega and I highly recommend because ✨ harmonies ✨
i dont enjoy glee sings, wayy too much of an autotune sound
@@classicalheroes8910 There are a few live performances like "against of all odds"
Basically all Warbler songs are incredible and also Come What May

I UNDERSTOOD EVERYTHING, DARREN, WHY DO YOU KEEP SHOWING YOURSELF MORE AND MORE PERFECT
Darren did Cough Syrup on Glee and I listen to that song at least four times a week still tbh
Sondheim also wrote The Witch's Rap from Into The Woods. That is a similar style rap to this one.
i am no expert but i am a fan of darren acting because of how he can do literally all dance, sing, act, RAP and all very wel
Michael James Scott was in Something Rotten and played Genie in Aladdin on Broadway, West End and Australia.

I'm pretty sure there is a compilation on youtube of all the people who've done this song
There was a compilation of all the fast bits from various actresses but it came out before this video so Darren wasn’t in it
The clips are definitely worth watching.
You should listen to Blaine Anderson's songs on glee, darren nails them all, and yes blaine is played by darren and he nails all his songs

While not as fast as the origin I like that Darren was able to but more personality in by slowing it down just a little.

Yes please! React to performances from Glee!!! 🥰💯🙏 A good starting point is all of the competition performances! ❤
This was really good! I liked it!
Stephen Sondheim is the true Genius and the Master Lyricist in theatre & music in general!!
Please react to the whole COMPANY musical!!
Thanks!! 😊😊

I'm sure it makes sense if you see the whole show, but the crowd was in black, & had umbrellas. More like mourners than wedding guests.🤔
