I just needed to take the shade down for floor refinishing -- this video helped me with that. I will bookmark it to follow the re-assembly. I liked that it was slow and steady and didn't rush the process. To get the fabric and runners out of the head rail was the stickiest part... Thanks!
When your vertical shade has 2 sets of holes, both ends of the string end up on the same side (the moving side). When the shade is stacked open, both ends of the string lay under the upper rail, so that as the shade is closed, one end is connected to the upper set of holes while the other end is connected to the lower set of holes. My shades have 4 plastic guides, with a small bar across one side and a small hole. Three of these glides point toward the center of the shade, while the 1st one points up. The shade is strung by starting at the upper moveable rail, coming down the shade to the upper set of holes with the string going under the small bar on the glide, going through the small hole in the glide (the small hole being pushed into the holes of the fabric), going though the set of holes in the fabric through the small hole in the glide and then under the bar in the glide, going down the shade to toward the lower set of holes under the bar and through the hole of the glide, coming back through the lower set of holes to the side that you started on going through the hole and under the bar of the glide, and both ends of the string going back up to the top. One end of the string is anchored to the end plate, the other end of the string loops through the same end plate and is attached to the tension clip. There are 4 end caps that go on the top and the bottom of the vertical rails. One of these clips has a small metal horizontal bar in the middle of it. This is one one that goes on the top of the moving side. The two ends of the string thread through the clip and run over this metal bar.
This is really good and helpful but it is for a single-stack installation. I have a split stack that opens in the middle. Can you tell me how the tension cord pattern should go on right and left sides? My tension cord broke and I can only see one tensioner although the HD manual says there should be three (one for right, left and a spare). Thanks!
This did the trick for me! Restrung my blinds successfully. Although I did break the legs off of the end cap that the magnet sits on - the white part, not the clear one. Do you sell those? I've got it taped in place at the moment.
I found my retention slide was broken, apparently before we bought the house because it was being held up there by a twist tie jammed in the beam... That fell and caused chaos in the blind. I simply re-tied the string on the 'open side' of the beam... It looks like I need to replace the tensioner, but I'm still not sure if this is a problem waiting to happen....
I need help with the tension string. There are two strings that come out of the blind. One gets fed through the end plate, then back to the tension slide. What happens to the other string? Where does it go? Thanks!
Thank you for your reply. Forgive my ignorance, I'm not following. When I installed the vertical blinds, there were two strings that came out from the top of the blinds which were both wrapped into the end plate. Those strings are individual strings, they are not attached to each other. One string goes through the end plate ((once attached))and then attaches to the tensioner. I don't know where the other string goes. If it's supposed to go back through the blinds then I don't think I'm going to be able to do that. I would think it should have come out of the box that way.
MY ISSUE: I got as far as getting the string thru the magnet and end cap but MY BLIND HAS 2 tensioning sets of holes, as opposed to this diagram in the video that shows the sting going thru the blinds at the mid point, my blinds are 93 inches in height and have dual tensioning sets of holes, about 14 inches down from the top and about 2 ft up from the bottom ....THIS VIDEO IS GREAT AND HIGHLY INFORMATIVE, but does not address nor show how to run string for a vertical blind with 2 sets of tensioning string holes .....CAN ANYONE HELP ????? thanks (to note: both sets of tensioning holes clearly are used for this blind's operation, as the length of string I removed is very long, double the length if just going thru one tensioning set of holes at the mid point)
Thanks for your questions. I know you've been working with Jordan via phone and text message to get this sorted. This video is specific to Hunter Douglas brand shades. If the brand isn't Hunter Douglas, these instructions may not fully apply.

I spent so much time trying to figure out what was wrong with my binds until I found this video. Thank you!

Hi Mike, We may have what you need. Would you please email us a picture of the part you're looking for? Our email is service@fixmyblinds.com.
Do you have a video of the newer model (post 2015)? I have the newer one and the parts are slightly different.
Hi Adam, we don't have any videos with the newer style of Vertiglides. Yes, the parts are a little different, but the basic concepts are the same.
Where can I find a place that sells Hunter Douglas 1.2mm tensioner cord? I need about 20 feet of it to repair a blind
Hi Rick, We sell the 1.2mm cord here: fixmyblinds.com/collections/1-2mm-lift-cord-string/products/1-2mm-string-white.

How long does it take to restring and to complete this job from removing from the wall to put it back on? Roughly
Hi there, I'd estimate a couple hours for the first time you do this repair.
@@fixmyblinds ok. Tx. Yes, 1st time.
My fabric stack seems to be fixed on one side.
Hi Susan, we got your email and will respond to you there. Thanks for reaching out to us!

Andy, the other string gets tied to the spring inside the shade. This diagram will help: www.fixmyblinds.com/media/repair/ins-vertiglide-diag.html

Andy, what brand of blinds are you working with?
FixMyBlinds I can try to get more information tonight, they are vertical honeycomb blinds. I could probably even take a picture or two and post them
FixMyBlinds they are the same blinds as shown in this video

My question is about how to clean them… Do I need to order a professional cleaners or take them down and clean it by myself. I don’t see how🤔😏
We recommend hiring a professional blind cleaning company.
oy vey!
