I think if they put terracing at either end it would be a cracking wee stadium.
They need a stand behind each goal but even if they get a stand behind the goal to the right quickly and then focus on the rest of the stadium I think it would be a good ground
True, they need stands behind goalposts, especially when they're so close into being promoted.
@@Charlizzie ye they need one behind each goal in the championship but I think once they get promoted they will need to have a look at the stand for the directors as well and turn that stand into a proper one

Hampden Park itself is an absolute disgrace for a national stadium it should be demolished and rebuilt with the terraces closer to the pitch and make it a cauldron of noise on match days..

Looking forward to checking it out in August when Killie is away from home. Plan on taking my daughter to the true Glasgow derby. One of the non bigoted variety. My great grandfather was a Partick Thistle Fan and have loved the rivalry with Killie over the years. Looking forward to the atmosphere

It's a good setting for a ground with the tenements and flats in the background - stadiums in the middle of housing schemes over middle of nowhere every time. It gives it a proper city of Glasgow theme.
The goal to the right could house a good size modern terracing or small modern steep seated stand. It looks a decent size.
Any new ground, I don't understand why they don't make the stands as close to the pitch as possible. The tighter a stadium is, the better chance of making it difficult for visiting teams, it's only a small thing but can contribute to a home advantage. Marginal gains in sport. I would have made the stand you were in as close to the pitch as possible, especially in any small stadium. The same with St. Mirren Park for example. It could be a lot closer and enclosed.
Potential for a terracing behind the left goal. Looks a neat ground in a good setting with good potential for behind each goal.
A lot of lower league grounds in England have good examples of small tight stadiums. Makes for better atmosphere. European football have good examples for modern terracing for behind each goal.
I absolutely agree with everything you said here mate. I believe the pitch will be moved in phase two of the build so i wonder if thats why there is a bit of a distance between them now. It has the potential to be a great stadium, sadly i just don't think they've got the budget to get everything they need done in a year - hence why it's taken them 3 years to get this done.
I think it's shocking that our sfa only paid Queen's Park £5M for Hampden. They should have covered the costs of the renovation of Lesser Hampden! Typical of our sfa though. Do nothing to support our game unlike people like yourself Blair. Keep up the great work 👍
Looks like luxury for the directors and 2nd class for the fans a them and us, I wouldn't be happy if I was QP fan, also that entrance coming into the stadium doesn't look safe
Aye, that blackbox is horrific. They bulldozed the oldest building in world football to build that. The old barn used to be there. Could have been a museum.
@@MrRicodemo An utter disgrace what they did to that historic farm building, and appalling that the council let them do it. The club have no soul and no understanding of tradition, which is really tragic when you think that's what the club has been about for 150 years.
4 sides must be the basic requirement.
Even small, covered terraces at each end and fill the gaps at the other end so the stands wrap around it. 4k with potential to expand would be enough for them surely?
When you own a 50,000 seater stadium, sell it and still haven't managed to replace it with a 2,000 capacity stadium after 4 years you have to be asking what on earth is going on?
Food prices at football grounds are horrendous The ground is definitely too small and moving back into hampden everybody will just be rattling about with zero atmosphere
For an ambitious team that oils have been promoted to the Scottish Premiership, I am surprised that they can have a 1,800 capacity ground but I guess there are no standards in terms of minimum capacity to get into the Scottish Premiership nowadays

How did a club with average gates of 500 come to own the national stadium? I assume the SFA have paid for the redevelopments over the years?
Hampden was always owned by Queen’s Park. Just Scotland decided to play at it
would've been mad if they got promoted and this stadium had to host premiership games
And use Greater Hampden if their opponents are those employees of Tim Hortons and Sevco Builders Warehouse.
Why did they play the last 3 seasons in stadiums miles away from Glasgow? Were there no teams closer by that would allow them to share?

Stadium isn't fit for purpose, Dempster has said it was planned for around 4k capacity, not just the one "stand".
The fact they are getting to move next door after the league Cup and 1 league game there is a total farce. Everyone else has to have 1 home ground, so why should they get special treatment and go to a ground where the will male large £££ when thr bigger teams visit? Funnily enough, their home league game isn't against Dundee utd, Partick or Dunfermline!
Take East Fife, similar size club u could argue, when Dunfermline play them do they go to the league and say can the game be played elsewhere cause ground is small... no the away team gets 800 tickets and that's it. So why should this lot get treated differently? The have been out of Hampden for 3 years, finally have LH somewhat done but now get to go back to Hampden! Whole thing stinks.
What's to stop say Livi or Falikrk or Dunfermline next time play celtic or rangers saying to the league, actually we wanna go okay at Murrayfield cause we will hey much bigger crowd there and sell 50k away tickets!

Very fair point. It never crossed my mind. It is a shambles when you think of it. Very unfair.
I'm all for Scottish teams doing what they can to maximise profit but it's an unfair advantage on the other teams in the league. Teams are not allowed two home grounds I presume.
Such a shame it feels like a complete missed opportunity right now. It could have been good with 2 good stands or a stand behind a goal. It looks really nice but i think any supporter would rather have good facilities and experiences over good looks :/
Something stinks about the full Queen’s Park episode , take 6 million , and plan to build a stadium it’s took years to build this !! And no doughy with haughie involved with Glasgow council there’s been lots of back handers involved as well

Not only is it not big enough for the Championship, if they draw an OF team in the cup they aren't able to take advantage.

Have you noticed there is such a podium in the national stadium. I should say the world's worst national stadium for supporters. Designed by brainless SFA suits with the priority on their own offices not football.
I was there, a horrible game. To much football in their own half with no cutting edge. Queens wont get away with that tactic and its painful to watch.

Depends what you count as a stadium. Bridge of Don Thistle and Aberdeen East End are the closest I know. Also closer than big and wee Hampden are Berwick Rangers & Tweedmouth and Inverurie Locos & Colony Park.

What did Queen’s Park get out of the deal + 5m?
The got rid of the maintenance costs of Hampden, which the SFA say are running at £2 million per year. £5 million for an asset they couldn't afford, to the only possible buyer, wasn't bad business.

For years there were endless stories of QP players getting decent, ahem, "expenses" i.e. they weren't all doing it for free.
When your expenses are less than £35 and you are 2 hours outside Glasgow. Training Tuesday and Thursday, playing Saturday. Make more money in the juniors or Lowland League.

Is this not just the first phase of redevelopment ? Is there not plans to put stands behind the goals and to add something either side of the old pavillion ?
No. Nothing beyond drawings.
All it needs is a terrace behind one end for home fans and maybe a seated one at like 1k behind the other for away fans
