    If you want to keep your mess tins clean, and eat straight from the bag, in the U.K. go to Lakeland’s.
    They do 20 packs of boil in the bags, and all you do is put tin contents in the bag, and then boil with cooker.
    Save money, and very hygienic.

    I seriously like that you showed bits from the shops as well as showing the ration packs. Particularly the stuff from the supermarket.
    Ive been looking into dehydrating my own stuff.
    Why on earth somone would voluntarily eat a british army ration pack i will never know 🤣🤣

      They are really good James. Much much much better than they were in the 80s / 90s. 20 years of war fighting has led to massive changes. You can put your own together for around the same price if you shop carefully though though the range of meals in British rat packs is now massive.

    I miss 1980's British Army compo... Growing up as a kid in Germany, many a home meal was made with compo and as a Scout, we had tons of spare compo given to us by QM. I personally miss.. Mixed fruit pudding, sausages, boiled sweets, burgers, processed cheese... :)

    Theirs a lot of high end protein bars that don't have as much added sugar or junk and are made out of vegetable protein and good ingredients. I recommend those too. Though it's important to not exclusively rely on them as they can cause some interesting side effects if that's the case. I am going to a milsim very soon, was gonna restock on these, and get jerky! I already have trail mix. Jerky is underrated, filling, protein rich and plentiful and doesn't spoil easily.

    When you're cooking your main meal,I always used to stick my pudding in the hot water for a couple of minutes. Works especially well with the chocolate pudding with sauce. Also used to do it with the cheese made it nice and tangy.

    Still a big fan of biscuits brown and meat paste as lunchtime nibbles. Fox's (I think) do a very near civvy equivalent and of course the infamous jars of shippams meat paste.

    Tom, the Wayfarer civi expedition meals are £3.50 each in go outdoors with a yearly £5 discount card now. Great little top up meals either in wet-pouch or for 50 odd p more dehydrated if water is in abundance.
    I tend to use the wet pouches with the all important long handled spoon (£3.50 - Vango from eBay) for a full day on the North York moors circa 10-12 miles carrying 20kg worth of house on my back for an overnighter.

    The best tip I could give would be the small baby food sachets. They are very inexpensive, quite tasty, a bounty of caloric intake and quick to digest as they are already pureed. They don't require refrigeration and can easily slip into a pocket to be ingested whilst in the field.

    I've always just gone for military issue rations, to be honest (US MREs, in my case). They're a little pricey, but generally less than the initial investment of a camp stove/mess kit setup and the food to cook. Like you guys mentioned, they're easy, able to be eaten cold, and are self-contained.

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I generally just go for British rations for multi-day events. I will take a stove though. A readily available hot brew does a lot for morale!

    Personally what I take on events depends. If I'm going to an event where there is a high possibility of undisturbed downtime I'll take the dehydrated meals because from my experience they're far nicer than many of the wet pouches. I normally pack 1-2 main meals and a TON of snacks - nuts and jerky are your best friends.
    If you want good alternatives to the british army rations - the Lithuanian ones are always super high quality. They all come with nuts, biscuits, a main meal, a drink, and most importantly A BAR OF DARK CHOCOLATE. Can easily snag them for

    Good stuff guys. Just getting over covid and catching up on videos. LOL
    I'm also type 2, I keep low sugar peanut butter and crackers in my kit for fast snacks. As always interesting to see how close but different our mil spec stuff is. I used to love the grilled chicken in our MRE's. The chili mac was ok if doctored up. Mountain House has some really good freeze dried options we use. Oh and beef jerky! Always have beef jerky on hand.

    I have an idea for a loadout. A British army loadout for the 1970s during the troubles. I think it could be fairly easy. Pretty sure you already have the DPM 1968 uniform, and 1958 webbing, as well as a SLR. So you really need a flak jacket. And either a riot helmet, or a the army beret. Even the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers beret would be nice. Also you could use a sterling SMG if you have one but a SLR works. I think the troubles in Ireland were very interesting.

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it’s more about how much time is available. At a lot of modern style events getting yourself fed, watered and bombed up as fast as possible is what’s needed. I’ve been much more relaxed at themed games and especially when crewing.

    My biggest problem with rat packs is I hate baked beans so hot breakfast can be a challenge. Soaking wet on Dartmoor I had leek and potato soup, then used some of the water to make a hot wet and used the rest for a shave 😅
