*Damon Lindelof:* * snorts cocaine * "Alright SO in the afterlife, Patti is back and she's the secretary of state, and she forces Kevin, who is the president of the United States, to read to Kevin, who is an international assassin, the ending of a romance novel that they were both writing that basically explains Kevin's whole psyche to the audience while also forcing both Kevins to come to terms with the fact that they can't help but run away from their problems, so assassin Kevin, who looks like season 2 Kevin agrees to let season 3 Kevin symbolically kill his old self and extract the key from his heart to trigger a nuclear apocalypse, thus destroying the afterlife and forcing Kevin to face his new life headfirst from that point on. Any questions?"

Emmy's are a joke. Theroux's performance on this show was top 10 all time and anyone who knows the industry knows that.

@@kevinturnbull29 Absolutely Top 5 performances in TV shows, right there with Walter White, Eliot and Tony Soprano. But to me even better, I never thought I would identify with this character so much. I am so grateful for this Masterpiece of artwork!

I’m having hard time moving on from this show. I mean, it’s just... gone. And im still here.
What's great is watching an amazing, emotionally charged scene, then, right at the end. TH-cam decides to blast a lady gaga song advertising biscuits louder than preceding video into your eardrums.

The port was alive with strange faces. It was dawn by the time he found an old salt willing to part with a vessel for what bouillon he had left. A cutter, with a bermuda rig called 'The Merciful.' Its sails ragged and ripped, its compass cracked, its rotten hull just barely able to cut the breakers. But it would be enough to make his escape.
It wasn't for another hour, when he was a mile from the docks, that his thoughts turned back to her. He imagined her alone. By now she would have searched the house and found it empty. She had suspected it all along and now she knew, he was a coward. A coward dressed in the uniform of a brave man. Brave enough to cross two oceans and a continent to find her. To fight countless enemies, and yet in the end he was terrified. He was terrified of her. To lie beside her. To be comforted by her as he wept. To show her he was small. For her to know that and touch his cheek and whisper words softly into his ear. All of that was a nightmare. All he knew to do was run.
He took a deep breath of the air, tasting the salt on his tongue, and closed his eyes, leaning into the spray as 'The Merciful' picked up speed and sailed for the horizon. He was alone, and all is well.
Just gorgeous language
God this scene. It won't leave my brain months after I watched it.

So many amazing scenes the final season but this one really grew on me after multiple viewings.

Finished this series last night with my mom and WOW. What a phenomenal show. Such a brilliantly constructed narrative and it wrapped up perfectly. This scene was my favorite though, and I’m not lying when I said I was close to tears; my mom was straight balling her eyes out.
She lost her husband last year; my dad. He meant so much to both of us and was gone way too soon. When watching this show I realized how much he was like Kevin. This monologue was so eerily similar to his own insecurities he held till his own dying day that it was incredibly tough to get through, but worth it all the same.
The writers did such an incredible job of portraying the way different people handle grief and depression, as well as the ambiguity of what happens next. I won’t stop thinking of it for a long time.
I can't believe he wasn't nominated for an Emmy for this role! Especially after watching the last season. This scene is so sad & beautiful.

Just finished the series. Had to come back here. This is where we get a full look into the essence of Kevin's character, and they tell it to us with him reading a fucking allegory to himself. Brilliant
Love the line"Jesus, you look just like him" brilliant...
This is the kind of acting that can only be achieved through real experience, for those who didn't know Justin Theroux was breaking up with Jen Anniston during this season and it is so apparent that he was able to channel that experience into his acting and quite honestly he put out the single greatest acting performance in a television show due to it. Sad to watch but at the the same time it's so authentic that it achieves something greater than great.

yes, they were. It hadn't become public knowledge that they were splitting but that happened almost immediately after so it's pretty obvious the break was happening at this time
