Thanks for taking the effort to put all these videos together. They are a great watch and I now have plans to visit some of these lovely places that I never knew existed 👍
Another great walk. We sometimes park where you did and go for a little stroll out and back and enjoy the views and hopefully spot red kites and ravens flying over. We've seen it get quite busy there with walkers, and noisy with the planes, but it looked so peaceful the day you did your video! Enjoyed all the info you shared. You put a lot of work into your videos so thank you for all you do.
Another great video. Wonderful views from the high ground. What a fine, dry autumn we had. , I well remember zig zag hill when driving from Shaftesbury to the New Forest. Thanks Dave, enjoyed this video very much.
Loved the misty mysterious start and stunning landscape thereafter. A great mix of history and walking scenes. That was a good use of the defunct phone box in the village! Glad to see Logan is getting some of his 5 a day still from the blackberry bushes!
Jean put me onto you as I wanted to subscribe to a channel that focussed on walks in our beautiful English countryside plus I see there’s the added bonus of a dog’s eye view too, all the better to my mind. A walk with a dog is a wondrous thing that can’t be matched by any other activity.
Hi Dave We bumped into you half way round this walk. We were going in the opposite direction! It was a beautiful day for the time of year . Really enjoy your video’s! Keep it up ! Alan and Michelle 😊😊
@@DaveFord . That’s correct, we’ve exhausted that book now and moved on to a couple of new ones ! 😊 It’s interesting watching your videos of walks we’ve already done , as you point out things we missed on walk , so have to go again !
Lovely walk Dave, I’ve completed it many times. I agree, the views on top of the hill are well worth the effort of getting there. I either park as you did, on the Higher Shaftesbury road, or on the A350 next to St Mary’s Church, Compton Abbas.
Hi Dave. I'm moving to Dorset soon, 2 weeks time? and will be doing a lot of walking with my new rescue dog! This may be one of the first. Lovely walk. Thank you. Caroline
Such a glorious place, Dorset, and I love your mixture of history, geography and such fantastic views. When I got to England in October I managed to film a visit to Dorsetshire Gap, also with a strong Hardy connection, but did not have quite the wonderful weather as you. The old red telephone box in my sister's village is now a book swap. Also a great use of such a small space. Logan is such a good companion. There must be many tiny discreet gems to discover dotted across England. A real joy. Thanks
Thanks Andrew. I am planning on filming a walk at the Dorsetshire Gap this year (a route around Lyscombe Bottom). Done most of the research - there are some amazing aspects to explore around there.
Dave this was a thoroughly enjoyable walk. Really enjoyed seeing the Village and the surrounding green and pleasant landscape. Great share. Thanks for taking us along with you. 👌🏻👍🏻. Cheers Watto.
Glorious walk Dave. Must have been hard on your knees on those slopes. Even Logan was slowing up a little at one point. You were lucky with the fog lifting, although the sun usually burns it off in due course. We must take a look at that area someday. I’ve added a few comments to the pictures I came across earlier, but a truly beautiful spot. Take care, both of you.
Thanks Lionel. Yes, I was fortunate with the weather. I nearly didn't start because of the fog / mist but glad that I continued as it became a sunny day.
Thanks for another lovely video Dave - Dorset is such a beautiful county. Is the area you were walking in also known as Spread Eagle Hill or is that further over? I remember driving down Zig-Zag Hill once and having what looked like the shape of the outspread wings of an eagle in the lie of the land pointed out to me.
Watched twice now, and will be watching again. A lovely part of the world Dave. Thank you both. ❤️
Thank you. Some spectacular views in that area - especially on a clear day!
Thanks for taking the effort to put all these videos together. They are a great watch and I now have plans to visit some of these lovely places that I never knew existed 👍
Thank you. I hope that you get some good weather and enjoy some of the walks. Thanks for watching.
Many thanks Dave, what a wonderful area. You must walk a few more steps placing the camera and going back for it!! Take care.
Thanks Christine. Yes .... it keeps us fit!

Thank you. I imagine that it could get quite busy up there at peak times - a popular place for views!
Well that was a lovely walk Dave ! The countryside and views were quite special , thankyou!
Thank you.
Lovely walk Dave. So glad that you and Logan persevered!
Cheers Ian. We got there in the end!

Thanks Colin. The "Zig Zag" certainly makes the journey more interesting!

Thanks Jean. It is great the way some villages have been able to still make use of those boxes.
Beautiful views and thank you for your and very commentary. Thanks Dave
Thanks Al. There really were some great views around there. :)

Hello to you both. Yes, I remember seeing you (I think we talked about a guide book?). Thanks for watching.

Hi Caroline. I hope that your move to Dorset goes smoothly and that you get to enjoy some great dog walks going forward. Thanks for watching.
Two years ago this one. I have a lot to catch up on.

Thanks Watto. I was glad that the mist lifted!
Logan the legend 😻
He does like to "pose" on occasions!

Thanks Angela. Yes, the car park is at the top of Spread Eagle Hill, to the South of Melbury Abbas.
The church referred to as St Peters' is The Holy Trinity, which is no longer a church. St Peters' is the smaller one to the right in the shot.
Thank you for the clarification.
Pleasure, I enjoy your videos. I have lived in Shaftesbury for 35 years and walked to Melbury Beacon more times than I can remember.
