I've been worn down.... I just sent my Aid de camp to go off into snowy Canadian winter, to secure a copy of this work of Art. I'm well into a Wellington's victory game, and the rules are firming up nicely through repetition.
Absolutely fantastic quality. I've been very slowly (because I'm slow) working my way through the first scenario. Rules are somewhat dense but no worse than LaBat. The rules flow very well and are well thought out and clearly explained.
I believe the grey SP markers are used for artillery crews, whereas the white ones are for infantry and cavalry battalions. Winter's Victory represents the most expensive game I've ever bought. I have **not a shred** of buyer's remorse after looking at this package and begun going through the rules. Really excited for this one, and cannot wait for a Vassal module to appear! Really looking forward to the new Orders system, which Wellington's Victory had nothing of the type, while LaBatt and the MMP CW Brigade system had their own processes for.
Hmm, your first comment makes sense, although I have only just gotten to "Fire" seciton so far. And I agree with you in terms of not having buyer's remorse. So far I've taken my time opening things, punching, sorting and rounding counters, perusing the rules, etc. I can't think of another game with better quality components. I probably paid about the same for Devil's Cauldron (a HUGE game) when I first got it. My only quibble so far is even though I like the "muted" colors of the map, it may be difficult to differentiate hex terrain/levels once the counters are packed onto the map. Too soon to judge, I guess.
@@thegeneralsretreat1645 I happen to think if the contrast between the map and the counters is any indication, the various gray levels will be accentuated, too. I don't think there will be many issues with elevation. Time to get out the snow shovels, huh?
It’s gorgeous. I still haven’t gotten my first La Bataille, Dresde, to the table tho so I can’t let myself be tempted. I’ll definitely try and get something from them. Especially being from Boston I’d like to support a pretty local business making such high quality games.

Plus, if I had carefully looked at the markers pics on p. 5 it would have told me what you just said! 😃

Thanks for the presentation. I am looking for a game to play with my adult son and this looks interesting.
Start reading the rules now...😀 But it looks well worth it!
Pretty nice eh?
Very!
Ill never get all those maps out without a major restructure downstairs@@thegeneralsretreat1645
