After 10 days sitting under the cover, the cheap tank pad are coming off. I'll replace them with the same Daytona clear vinal until I figure out how to get "TechSpec" pads in Japan.
I'm like you, I must have tubeless wheels. I was going to get the Transalp except 1) no cruise control. I gotta have that for living in Los Angeles and the amount of freeway driving I do to get away to the mountains. I'm instead getting the Noren 901. Fully loaded, has everything. I love it!
@mrbjay5443 tubeless and veridiancruise were both cheap. I was looking at the nordan too. But the reliability issues. On a cooler day the left side was pumper heat onto my leg and I know the catalytic is known for melting the rear shock. Ktm and Aprilia make better bikes, but the reliability trouble people are having are barely acceptable for a heavily used bike, let alone a new one that costs more than the competition.
If, when the bike falls over the mirror(s) will snap off at the perch mount where the mirror arm threads into the perch. Ask me how I know. It fell over away from me in the garage. LOL. Luckily Honda sells just the perch caps (the front part that is on the rider side of the handlebars). Suspension is the most important thing a rider can change. It will make it handle significantly better, makes it so much safer in the dry and in the wet (rain on pavement), better tire wear, and better with a passenger or luggage on it.
Thought about this one or the NC750DCT as a commuter (55 kilos each way). Don't think they do this with DCT, though. I see a fella (here in Central Japan) commuting on an Africa Twin 1100DCT some mornings, and he goes through traffic nicely, but Tokyo roads... Not for me. Had a Suzuki V-Strom 650 (Japan spec) from new in 2013, but having left hand joint issues, I swapped for a new 2018 Tmax530 scooter, which I have never grown to like, so back to "bikes" as it were, and your bike's cousin, the NC is the most likely choice, and which I, too will probably keep for about 10 years (about 220,000 kilos). I do not find my Honda heated grips to be really hot when on high. I had the dealer install them at the time of purchase for warranty reasons. I installed 15 mm lower SW-Motech footpegs. They do stick out farther which I do not like when I am stopped and swing my leg around them front to back, back to front.
@human1513 they are not the best heated grips. Better than my mt, not as good as the free ones from my tracer 900gt. I also had the dealer do it for warranty
Only missing tubeless and cruise control now :) But before you do anything else, put some miles on that thing! It's only got 33km on the odo! When I got my new 790 3 weeks ago, I put 200km on the first day :P
Standard mode is 3/4, good for daily roads. Rain mode is 1/4. It's gutless but safe, hard to hit even 100kmh in rain mode. I use 2/4 in dirt 4/4 on good roads
@cameronsays I won't be able to afford a new bike for 10 years. Neither will hold much value. More weight and higher center of gravity won't be better off road. While off road will be less than 10% of the ride. More features isn't better, just more. It was also less comfortable than the transalp. And any resale value is lost after how many years of paying more for much more for gas and insurance.
man,why tuareg is so expensive in japan?almost at the price of africa.here in greece,is about the same money with vstrom800de,which is a little more expensive than transalp and tenere.may ask a question.the decals in this transalp are lacquered,or can be removed?
They are painted on. Japan has a high import tax. Plus the cost of shipping it half way around the world Also, honda is made in Japan. No shipping or import fees

@human1513 yes, I've changed mirrors, and suspension comes down to my current budget. I don't think the suspension is bad on this bike, just not great

@@KairyuRider Because the AT is better equipped, more capable off road and as a tourer, and will hold its value better than a modified Transalp.
