You can really tell the everyone involved genuinely just wanted to do this, and the fact that Atlus approved it and let it happen is just incredible. They did not have to do that.

Honestly, unlike most people not liking the original FES OP because of the gameplay in it, I really liked it. It lets you know what you're getting in the game with the daily life and dungeon sections. Also, the theme f*cking SLAPS!

This is why I love Atlus they may be greedy with some of their prices but they put their heart and soul into these projects so it's worth it they basically have a seal of quality

That was one of the biggest things I missed about Persona4 Golden and Persona5 Royal, because even though the new openings were great, the original ones were also amazing.
That would be an amazing way to reveal it for the switch. It would even be better if they did something like. "Well we're almost out of time. Though we have one last thing to show you. Please enjoy the seconds we have left with you." Or something like that.

I couldn't actually play the game since my computer couldn't handle it, but I WAS able to watch the intro. That was all that was needed to convince me to go and actually buy the game for the PS2.
