Thanks for the reaction. Tarja wrote her Dark Christmas album and her previous album Score For Dark Christmas (2017) for people for whom Christmas is not a happy time or who do not enjoy happy songs. Her own mother died on Christmas, and these holidays are no longer the same for her. I love her Dark Christmas albums. It's more like a combination of Halloween and Christmas.
Thanks! I think this is one of the best songs from this album. Another two that I really like on this album are her own Christmas song "Dark Christmas" and the famous "Last Christmas". And Tarja made the impossible possible, I can now listen to All I Want For Christmas is you. I couldn't stand the original anymore😅 Dark Christmas is a great album. I think it is something that we really needed. Something different!
Tarja is timeless. I listened to this twice and I kind of like how off kilter it is at points, it matched the visuals for me. I do still have nostalgia for these old Christmas songs even if I don't believe in their meanings anymore. Anyways, Happy Holidays! ☃☃
The Athiest in me wants to cut my ears off lol but Tarja is an epic vocalist, and I always enjoy hearing her sing. This was well put together to spite the subject matter. I hope your weekend is going good brother.
I almost skipped this, not really into Christmas songs and I'm feeling like a bit of a Grinch this year... but wow, this was captivating in all ways. Glad I went back to hear the always amazing voice of Tarja - btw she's giving me some Maleficent vibes with this look.
This is one of a few christmas songs i actually like. My favourite version is the one with swedish opera legend Jussi Björling but this was really cool. I love how Tarja takes these songs and make them dark and gothic, so different from all the overly cheery stuff. Btw, Floor and Marko with "Ave Mariah" from Raskasta Joulua is a must. Raskasta Joulua is a Finnish thing with metal singers doing christmas songs, it's quite awesome.
Thank you! What outstanding vocals, and the dark twist she put on the song by her costume and the musical alteration from the normal melody left me spellbound. The auroras made it very real - the northern Scandinavian skies are often ablaze with them in the dark winter nights.
We Europeans have some very strange Christmas legends and traditions. Krampus is one of them and Lacuna Coil (the band) - (song) Naughty Christmas - is a very fun take on a nightmarish figure for kids that haven't been well behaved
Honestly I don't like the song in itself, but I really like Tarja's interpretation. She is an amazing artist and her voice is iconic. I was actually hoping for a version of German song "Leise rieselt der Schnee" from her, it's one of the very very few Christmas songs that I really like and I think she would absolutely kill it. What I dislike about Christmas music and most holiday music in general is like it's so overly cheery, I feel like I'm being pressured into feeling happy and cheery all the time, and I honestly do not like Christmas. Or Easter. I like the coziness aspect of Christmas, I mean, the lights, the decorations, the unhealthy food at Christmas market, freaking cherry mulled wine (!!!), the warm clothes, hot chocolate, all of that stuff. But the holiday itself is overwhelming, very overstimulating for me, very stressful, I'm an ND introvert and socialising so much tires me out a lot. Not to mention how everything smells like meat, I haven't had meat since 2016, the smells make me nauseous at times. And I don't even do any church stuff 😂 Having a bit of a different thing to see or hear, like a different coloured lens, for any holiday, is very very interesting, ultimately I just want for all of it to be over. But I think I'll annoy my spouse with Tarja's version of Last Christmas a few times until then.
I’m not sure if I know the original, gonna check it out. Probably not so popular here. But I really liked this one. Her voice is incredible as always. Btw if you ask for traditional Xmas songs from Germany, Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht is probably the most famous, silent night in English. O Christmas Tree (oh Tannenbaum) also a german song. They have been internationalized long ago.
any music about the winter solstice and yule tide are gonna be a lot of European holiday stuff they dont have the same relationship with the church that Americans do
You said we know where you are in relation to your Christian faith. I have watched a lot of your videos but I must have missed any where you talked about that, so I don’t know the story there. It would give some good context to your reactions on vids like this. Sorry to ask, but that did make me curious. Thanks, buddy for another interesting reaction that exposed me to new music.
I am mixed here.. her voice and talent can't be denied. Some of the minor key work hits off for me.. it doesn't help her case as this IS my #1 favorite traditional carol, so if it strays too far I'm going have a problem with it. It is her artistry and direction of course, and with "Dark Christmas" I guess she hit the mark there. I compare it to making a cover of your all time fav song. They may Do a fantastic job covering it, but if it strays too far from what you know it's not going to make your cut. Interesting idea but it doesn't hit for me, sorry. ❤ and ✌️
This is excellent. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Uhhhh, whoa! I was surprised by how much I liked this song. Tarja's voice is, of course, magnificent and I appreciated the darker tones of the song.
Yeaaa the epic dark tones were great
Tarja managed to keep true to the original songs while also giving them this dark and majestic spin on her Christmas album 🎉 Soooo so good !
Yea this was soooo cool❤
Love, love, love Tarja!!
I adore her “Ave Maria en Plein Air” just beautiful ❤️

STUNNING MASTERPIECE !!!!!!!!
TARJA has become a musical genius of sorts, perhaps she always was .

This was pretty good.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Far far beyond good for many of us. TARJA is not for the masses and for this I am extremely grateful

I agree, we needed a different take
That's one dark, sinister looking Tarja!
I loved her look

Tarja has recorded several Xmas albums. You should check out Within Temptation’s “gothic Christmas”

festive song. really beautiful vocals
