Nothing wrong with him being openly gay. However I always said he used his sexuality thinking it would somehow help him. I never understood the reason behind screaming I'm gay to the world. I don't go around screaming I'm heterosexual. People shouldn't have to respect you just because you're gay. They should respect you simply because you're human, and deserve respect.

I honestly believe that he isn't in the NFL because he didn't make the transition to the pros well. Some players are great in college and lousy in the NFL. I don't think being gay had anything to do with it at all. If you aren't good enough or there isn't enough space on a roster for you, you'll be cut. NFL coaches don't have time to look into personal lives, they have to do what is best for their football teams.

What really drives me insane about this is the implied assumptions Sam has made about others. He wants us to give HIM the benefit of the doubt, that he's in this to be judged on talent and not sexuality, but he refuses to give anyone ELSE the benefit of the doubt that they're judging him on talent and not sexuality. He doesn't get to be the only good guy just because it fits his narrative.
Every college football player who goes out for the NFL and doesn't make it thinks the teams chose wrong. Those guys ALL think they're good enough; some of them are wrong.

The title of the video is false! In the interview he says he isn't in the NFL for reasons other than football because he thinks he can play (many straight players say something similar when they get cut). Michael Sam doesn't mention anything about being gay (only the interviewers do). He pretty much deflects questions about being gay 99% of the time. The media can't stop bringing it up. Please provide an example after his announcement and kiss where he has brought it up.

Michael Sam was a projected 1st round pick PRIOR to his public coming out. I personally think he was dumb for coming out, but it's clear he is/was blackballed. Plus he was very productive for the Rams in that rookie preseason. Didn't he have like 2-4 sacks? It's all on him for not realizing it wasn't the time, but IS a talented player and would've have a spot on any NFL roster normally.

Chris Parker Yeah, against 3rd and 4th string players. There was no way he was ever going to make that roster because the Rams have an absolutely loaded defensive line. The fact of the matter is that a player's performance in college has almost nothing to do with how good they'll be in the NFL. I could name a bevy of players at multiple positions that aren't/weren't good in the NFL. This isn't anything new.
The guy has obvious issues. Just seeing him talk and his demeanor, you can tell something is off. The guy tried to use his coming out card to gain an advantage in the draft, it backfired. He's tested poorly multiple times. Being a great player in college doesn't mean a thing. There are recent Heisman winners that aren't on teams. Tebow is a great example. Just because you excelled in college, doesn't mean it carries over. The worst player in the NFL was the best on his college team.
Bottom line, Michael Sam cares more about being a celebrity than a football player, and no GM wants that distraction.

There was very little hype around him being in Dallas, and very little hype when he got cut; therefore blaming it on even being "a distraction" isn't valid. Your college accolades don't translate into NFL accolades, just ask Johnny Manziel. You were a 7th round draft pick that had a miniscule chance of making a team on talent alone. Teams have a right to not draft him or sign him, cause of his mouth and that he’s gay, in a locker room full of men with wives, would you want a gay guy in that room alone side you?
