He was one of the malaysia ministers that caught my attention for a better reason and although I am not a Malaysian. I can see and acknowledge his many contributions especially during the covid crisis, he is someone I truly respect. He speaks with wisdom, integrity and has alot of heart for his country people. I hope he will have his wish one day.
He is a politician of the people definitely after getting sacked. Before, he had to keep it professional, keep it A-typical politician with speech abd behaviour. After sacking, he was rosak; means broken in malay. . Essentially mean, he shatters into pieces beautifully that make him a people's person, For example his stint on Hot FM radio, his attendance to Entertainment and Multimedia events domestically, lastly charity work with open snd outspoken manner about it, especially his Bekpes project back then So, he is the politician of this current century: basically enjoy what you do and have fun, professionalism comes later

He took gamble in politics, played the game, and lost. Actually this is the second time he tried to leverage for a higher seat. First one was when he backed Najib, Najib lost the government, he tried to go against Najib afterwards, lost the contest for presidency. Now second time he backed PN, PN lost, and subsequently himself was kicked out. Also dont know about him being open minded but backing a party (PN) that is responsible for playing the worst racial game in GE history, id be more than happy to see him gone.

He's the only few Malaysian politician that truly stood out from the rest and has immense self-confidence and assured within. Not just the fact he can speak fluently in English, he's intelligent enough to know what he can control and what aren't. He's fair in his work and so far, I do think he can be a wonderful Malaysian PM. We'll never know when, but I'm happy to wait to see him get back into politics.

A good example is non Malays supporting and voting for Barisan Nasional / Mahathir during the 80s and up until the 90s. They voted BN anr Mahathir not because the non bumis loved BN or even supported its policies. As evident in why MIC and MCA were bleeding membership, votes and by default influence in BN while the coalition enjoyed some of the best election results up until Pak Lah. The concept of picking the lesser of two evils. Evil here means the best out of the two bad choices they had. The same applies in general. The public do not vote on what is the best or what they as citizens collectively agree they want. Instead the meta is they argue among themselves on who or what they think is better and end up voting baeed who they dont want. That is how winning elections went from ability to manage, administer and solve day to day issues of the citizens and country to choosing based on who ran the most effective PR and marketting campaign. One of the most media savvy PR leaders Malaysia has seen since independence was Najib. His public relations consultants was an Israeli linked international PR Agency. This is again the reason why failure to deliver the basic promise of increasing the bumiputera equity for 60 years had never affected UMNO or its leaders. Thats why despite being the party that stole, mismanaged and caused the economic stagnation of its supporter base, BN UMNO still has such a big sway over the country. They voted BN anr Mahathir not because the non bumis loved BN or even supported its policies. As evident in why MIC and MCA were bleeding membership, votes and by default influence in BN while the coalition enjoyed some of the best election results up until Pak Lah.
The concept of picking the lesser of two evils. Evil here means the best out of the two bad choices they had.
The same applies in general.
The public do not vote on what is the best or what they as citizens collectively agree they want.
Instead the meta is they argue among themselves on who or what they think is better and end up voting baeed who they dont want.
That is how winning elections went from ability to manage, administer and solve day to day issues of the citizens and country to choosing based on who ran the most effective PR and marketting campaign.
