Our ancestors were engineers, astronomers, architects, biologists, educators and warriors. They founded Mexico City-Tenochtitlan, one of the largest of its time, more than the European capitals, and the largest in America. In the Year of the Lord 1325, in the middle of a lake, where an eagle devoured a snake, our ancestors founded the Greater City of Mexico, which astonished the Europeans upon their arrival in central Mexico. The Mexica-Aztecs are our ancestors, and we, the Mexicans, are a people proud of our history, our traditions, our food, our arts. Mexico, by the Grace of God, gateway to the World to Latin America.

To think maybe a thousand years ago if their tribes met it would either be war or they would establish peace. Maybe this will be a new chance for the native Americans to unite under one banner representing all the tribes and nations of the first Americans. Even if I'm not native American seeing this gathering of the different tribes peacefully brings tears to my eyes.

What a cool question. In thousands of years, most cultures didn't change much without being touched or occupied by Western (Roman-style) cultures. For better or worse. Or both. Lots of small wars. Lots of living off the land, and not having much surplus in most cases. I imagine I'm not alone in thinking that sounds pretty wonderful.
It's an interesting question, but difficult to say, probably the Aztecs would have fallen to the Purepecha in the 17th century. But the Europeans would have arrived either way at some point.
I know the Aztec lineage was last acknowledged by the Hispanic Emperor, they even got their coat of arms as per European traditions back then. However they were never acknowledged by the succeeding ever-secularist Mexican governments afterwards, Juarez government might have been the major culprit as he promoted political and statehood principles widely divergent to monarchical principles that could have facilitated the reinstating of an hypothetical novo-hispanic Aztec Monarchy 🤷🏻♂️
Well, just to clarify: This is not an "Aztec dance" and those are not "aztec clothes" at all. This is a "Conchero dance" which is a Mexican tradition dating back to the 19th century, it is thought to be originated in the state of Queretaro where the Aztecs had no influence, the region was dominated by the Purepecha (tarascans) and mostly populated by the Otomi. It is not Aztec, it is Mexican, they are not the same.
We are still native even if we are not 100%, native. People marry outside the tribe. It is not all rape and violence in 2024. 1325 is a long time ago, and we are still here.

They're Native Mexican. I wish they'd stop trying to claim they're Native North Americans. Native North Americans fought the Mexicans and drove them back to Mexico. They were not friends.
