Dogs Off Leash

Most people walking dogs have them on a leash. But some don't. On the rare occasion when dogs are attacked or people get bitten by bears, it's usually because there's a dog off leash. They will chase after a bear or get too close to cubs. It leads to big trouble, news headlines and bears being put down. Just like securing trash and not feeding bears (even by bird feeders) is best for bears (and neighbors), managing pets properly is a big part of co-existing in a safe, smart way with bears. Check the law. Can you imagine the lawsuit if a bear chases an unleashed dog and somehow ends up biting someone? Maybe a child that's part of another small group of walkers? Who do you think will be responsible? The dog owner. Walking a dog off leash hurts dogs, bears, yourself and others.
