This is a slightly different version than we got in the US as it includes several "deleted" scenes. It was great seeing it as some of these scenes made the story clearer.

Having fun with your Outlander journey!
Bit of advice - most characters in this show (with the exception of some obvious few) don't really fit in a good-bad dichotomy. They're just people with different agendas, and they will go to different lengths to achieve those. Sometimes their goals will align with our main characters, sometimes not...

"He's a sly little fox" ...you don't know how right you are. Although it doesn't come up until S2, I don't think it spoils the story at all to let you know that Jamie's grandfather is Simon Fraser (based on a real historical figure), who was known as "The Old Fox".

The theme song is actually a popular historic song called "The Skye Boat Song." It's an old Gaelic rowing tune that later had lyrics added about the Jacobite rebellion and the Bonnie Prince. It's been referenced in a couple different modern tv shows, but I really love what it brings to Outlander.

Yes, definitely. I love how they use the song. It makes me want to listen to the into every time.

Re: your Dr. Who comment, this show, the books, wouldn't exist if not for Dr Who. In the 1990's the author was watching an old episode of Dr Who from the 1960's. In it, the Dr, met up with an 18th Century Highlander called Jamie MacCrimmon played by Fraser Hines. The sight of a handsome young man in a kilt, inspired her to write the novels. Fraser Hines also appears in ep 15 of this season as a character called Sir Fletcher Gordon. 😊

I got very excited when I looked up how the author created the books because of an episode of doctor who.

I loved how your modern sensibilities refused to acknowledge, at first, the reality of spousal violence in the past. In the time depicted, a wife was merely property.
I think that’s a part of why their story is so epic: they refuse to accept modern (to them) expectations of what a marriage should be, and decide to forge their own path, instead.

Yes, definitely. It was strange to see how it's so different, but I love how claire and jamie decided to start changing that for them.
