I can see how this would be so frustrating on a Friday and last patient. I would be thinking "you've got to be kidding me" I need a glass of wine now 😂
I can remember my husband moaning about pain from his ear. When I looked it looked like as I described, an hairy price of black wood. I can remember saying how on earth have you got that in your ear. I got a pair of tweezers and gentley eased it out. Then I realized it was a big chunk of wax that had worked it self free. My expression was yuck. He smiled and said that feels better😀

When I was little, my pediatrician would tell me that I was "growing potatoes" in my ear when removing wax. It wasn't until I was a pediatrician myself that I realized that wax often does look like little potatoes. I'm ever so glad that "growing potatoes" was the colloquialism used where she grew up rather than coal... I think that would have frightened me!

You can....no gaps around the plug to fit it through at the start. The first section came away quite easily with suction, by the time you get to the deeper part - again no gaps to fit it through and to slide it down the side would be very uncomfortable as the inner 2/3 is very sensitive.

Good video; quite informative! Only critique would be the volume balance… the speaking portion is too quiet, or conversely (and more likely) the high pitched squeaking noise from the suction probe is far, far too loud. Perhaps it’s the high pitched nature of it? It’s very unpleasant, akin to nails on a chalkboard. Ended up muting the rest of the video, though I would’ve liked to hear the rest of the description 😢
I’m in the north west England and I went to the hospital ENT a couple of weeks ago and he suctioned wax out my ears. He hurt me soooo bad I was constantly jumping and shouting ouch!! He just kept saying you’re alright and carrying on. My ear drums are sucked in and when he realised it was hard, he put oil in and didn’t even wait 30 seconds, just carried on suctioning! He then told me my eardrums were perforated (I think he did one of them with the big suction and loud pop ) and there was infection, so he gave me drops. I put the drop in my ear and I screamed and burst into tears. It was soooo painful!! Never again. I’ve got to go back next week and have a hearing and pressure test, then I’m seeing him again in January and tbh, I’m absolutely petrified now.
