The Africans are shown fashion magazines, music videos and fancy cars and homes, while the people from America and Europe are shown the swamp, huts, and people walking around half naked. Sad reality on both side of the globe

The "fake smile" comment - I live in the south, (Alabama) and it's very common and not a sign of being fake or rude for strangers to give you a quick smile and/or nod as you see them in passing.
Complete strangers aren't very likely to stand in your face and hold a grin for five minutes. If they do, you may want to leave them standing there.
I was really surprised that the woman expected to see celebrities basically hanging around at Walmart.

On my first visit ever to a client, who was a lovely, elderly American lady, I politely asked her how she was feeling and she told me that she was ok but stated that she had a rash on her fanny, and asked if I wanted to see it. I nearly died on the spot. In England, “fanny” is a rude word that depicts a female lady garden. A ‘front butt’ if you prefer. Sometimes it’s the small things that get ya! 😏

Americans have a fast paced life compared to other countries. We are too busy, we have bills to pay, we have too much going on to be smiling in a stranger's face for 5 minutes, that's ackward. And If I'm at work I'll smile for 2 seconds and go back to work. No reason to be smiling in front of a person I don't know for so long unless I'm with a group of friends and family. I myself come from a less fortunate country, Cuba where people spend their days at home drinking laughing and dancing and smiling the whole day but that's because they're are no jobs or opportunities so this is all they can do. This is the type of mindset some people from these countries have and when they come to the US they experience culture shock and realize that life here is very different from what they are accustomed to.

It seems like their only interaction with descendants of the slave trade are those that have been failed by the United States government & school system. Innocently ignorant of the continent of Africa. I wish many of you would get out more and speak with those of us that are educated, moderately successful financially &/or have been to college. I met Nigerians, Ugandans, Tansanians, South Africans, Met a guy from Liberia, and one guy from a little country between Liberia and Nigeria (can't remember the name right now.)
