Can you do one for roof costs for residential roofs? Profit loss / upgrades/ actual cost / estimate and supplier costs for each part of major manufacturing system? Just curious if it can pull info from data off an insurance claim and apply it with other known costs. Apply other knows such as gutters, fence , labor for each and get the profit margin etc. If so I’d love to see how this works.
This is online only. One is submitting data to basically an unknown entity, with no way of knowing if they are retransmitting the data somewhere for processing. And there’s no guarantee of data protection other than they state they won’t use the data. This may be fine uploading kids team stats *WITHOUT* personal identifiers, addresses, phone numbers - but corporate data, or personal data that contains family financial information…. Well, PT Barnum said, “There’s a sucker born every minute.”
I suspect that users have autocorrect and spellcheck enabled on their devices. Someone (big tech, Patriot Act, ISPs) is capturing everyone's information. Privacy left the building with the invention of the wire.
@@momodev1135 it’s one thing to do research. It’s another to upload a ton of personal and financial information to a site that says they won’t use your information… today. What about next week?
I uploaded my product based sales data for a few months and did some analysis and it was REALLY awesome. We’re not Walmart or something so I can’t imagine how that info would be of any use to anyone but me. So for me at least the trade off is completely worth it. And I don’t really feel like my info is in any way at risk anyway
Kevin, Thank You for Being an Incredible Teacher! Kevin, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for all your amazing Excel tutorials! I used to feel like a complete beginner, but after watching your videos, I’ve made so many improvements in my work. You break everything down so clearly, and your teaching style has made complex topics much easier to understand. I'm so much more confident with Excel now, and I can't tell you how much it’s helped me become more efficient. I truly respect you as my teacher, and I’m grateful for everything you've taught me. Keep up the great work - you've made a huge difference for me! Thank you again, Muhammad Abbas Khan Peshawar, KPK, Pakistan
Most of this can be achieved in Airtable. With one huge advantage: Airtable is a database. Spreadsheets are not databases, meaning that you can play around with data but no ability to build an scalable system out of it.
Go to pricing and you'll see that is not exactly free for companies and not even close to that: starting from 500$/month for mínimum 10 users so 6000$ per year
Here's their privacy policy: www.thebricks.com/terms-and-privacy-policy TLDR: "Bricks prioritizes data security by implementing industry-standard encryption and limiting data access to authorized personnel only. They collect and use data primarily to enhance services, sharing it with third-party providers only as necessary and compliant with legal standards. However, always exercise caution by reviewing specific data storage and sharing practices to ensure they align with your company's security policies."
I thinks it's almost unfair😂, just imagine all your tutorial videos I have been watching over the years, the need for them has just been vaporized with ai, wow.
This is cool. As an analyst for the last 30 years, I can see how this will change work. I'm curious about the context around Location City and State. Why does the A.I. pick 'Oregon' for Portland assignment instead of Maine? It will be interesting to see if the A.I. picked 'Oregon' because of the presence of other West Coast cities in the data.
Thank you for the video. I’m very interested in this topic, as I am in all things related to data analysis. I’d also like to know if there is an AI tool that can comment on data, meaning a tool that could generate a textual report interpreting the data in tables and charts on my behalf, possibly starting from some contextual inputs to accurately frame the type of scenario being analyzed and commented on. Thank you
hi, can you tell me a liitle bit more on this comment? i work as bi, this 2024 made my data all automated on powerbi having a datasource and ETL procesess, but a couple of files i still have to upload them from excel, so this comment got my attention. Thanks for any help!
Hi Kevin, this is great. I need to use excel to process some data from time to time but don't do it as much, so I easily forgot the formulas I use last time and spent a lot of time trying things out every time. This will save a lot of time.
Thanks Kevin, this was very interesting! One question. I couldn't tell from the company's website, but I assume any data I enter into this app is stored on the Bricks company cloud. If so, what is the privacy policy and security measures taken to protect our data. I'm not sure businesses and users will be excited about putting financial and other sensitive data into this product depending on the answers to those questions.

This is very helpful. I agree with others that data security is a concern, though. I imagine we'll see AI in MS Excel and Google Sheets soon enough. AI really is a game changer.
This is fascinating!! The old database person in me did ask a couple of questions. Since I used to live in Portland, OR I was wondering what would happen if the data was actually Portland, Maine? Can the interface "learn" the difference or do you need to open up Kevin Cookies 2 on the East Coast to find those cities? I am going to download the data and play with it. Irv in Florida
Thanks! Copilot does cost significantly more since it requires both a Microsoft 365 license and a separate subscription. Feature-wise, this tool is currently ahead-you can work across multiple tables, while Excel limits you to one table at a time and doesn’t generate dashboards. ChatGPT is more text-based and doesn't offer data manipulation after analysis.
Thank you for this clear and insightful explanation! 🙏 Your breakdown of these concepts is incredibly helpful for my work. Looking forward to more valuable content from your channel! 👍
Does the spreadsheet data that you are working with end up in public domain or is all of the work done on your computer. I can see where many companies would not want to use a program that allowed their data to be available to the world. thanks, glen
Hey Glen! No worries-according to their privacy policy, any spreadsheet data you work with in Bricks is processed on secure servers and isn’t shared publicly. it changes the value of the digits after i paste it from excel it usually increases the digit by value 1 and also does some other stuff, makes the number blue in colour
Has anyone pointed out that unit cost x units sold usually does not equal revenue (unless you don't make any profit)- it would equal Cost of Goods sold?
Hey Kevin, Thank you for sharing such great content and new apps. I'm trying the bricks, but unfortunately, I cannot get any results. My file is fairly large (122 MB) and I have uploaded the source data. It's our sales reports information. My prompts are pretty simple and I get good responses but I don't get any reports back. No tables, no charts and etc.
Sounds and looks amazing, but there is no way my company would allow me to save and share something like that online without any guarantee of data security. I noticed that there was an 'Export' function for the pie-chart, IF this allows the user to download the whole spreadsheet + dashboard to Excel that might work better?
Interesting but the goal of KCC is to maximize profits, so more useful to management are the statistically significant inferences to be drawn from available data beyond the spread sheet per se. For instance, AI might suggest that there is a relationship between monthly weather or seasonal climate and the varieties of cookies preferred by buyers. Thus chocolate chip will be favored in the upper planes states in cold months but not in Fla. during spring and summer, when almond cookies sell well. NOAA says that CA will be wet next month and, in the past, that's when lemon creams have sold well but sugar cookies age on the shelves. Shelf space is limited so these data are marketable to grocers.
Cool. Can you export the final file to Excel? We wouldn’t be able to access Bricks at work but if we could crunch it on our home computer than send an Excel file that would be fantastic!
Is there an export to MS Excel? It would be great to free the Bricks spreadsheets from the Bricks app and leverage these to use, tweek & totally own on Excel.
Had a little play with the dummy data provided by Bricks and found an issue - I couldn't find a way of changing the date format to ddmmyyyy - there is an option in a menu but that didn't apply to all - I am assuming this must be possible but it wasn't immediately obvious and when I did try the option of changing the cells, it didn't work. I assume I must be doing something wrong with this!
To the left of the column name, you should see an icon to change the data type of the column. In that menu, hover over date and then select DD/MM/YYYY. I just tested and it works on my end. Let me know if you're still running into issues.

OpenAI with writing m code Power Query is quite good.
Once I prepare all this in AI, can I export it in excel and use it as a regular sheet with formulas for new data?
