Does the central contract then make it more difficult to bring in a new player on form and replace a player on a contract? Will players on form find it more difficult then to break through?
It’s amazing for Kupoku as an individual but so gutting to hear he is getting the big bucks offer in France as I wouldn’t blame him to stay but would be so excited to see him play in England senior side one day
SA players dont earn millions, Colbe earns 930k english, over in Japan, the most payed bok. Pollard earns 610k at Leicester. The boks of 23' were allowed to play overseas (earn more) cause we had a simple gameplan then. Now you'll see most of the squad is picked from SA players. We have something similar to EPS system, we call it Poni system and it was brought in around 2017 when we allowed boks to be picked from overseas even though they had less than 30caps. This poni system was because the best two ranked teams at the time, Ire and Nz were only paying their local unions 45m rand and SA unions 57m rand but SA rugby was doing really average, especially in superrugby. So they brought in the system for 'players of nat interest', this also benefits unions as they can pay these players less and the poni will pay the remaining amount. This whole poni system is part of youth development, along with our epd system (player development) and mobi unit (roaming coaches) is all to give more equal access to all talent across sa and share knowledge top-down. Eg. The squad of 19' all come from 13 different schools, most top rugby, but the squad of 23' from 30 different schools across SA. Dont know if this is fact but Etzebeth recently said it, you can also go look it up easily. Squidge rugby did a video on Rassie who is more a director of rugby than coach, who creates pipelines for player development. England shouldnt be compared to SA at club level cause we played super rugby and they kept with premiership, meaning we only have 5+- good teams they have 14 most of which are expected to perform well. Finance wise as well, it seems like this eps system is similar to Ire central contracts, thats what ive heard. SA rugby had to bring in these 3 systems mentioned because talent was being missed massively and because our exchange rate, overseas clubs have an advantage over our local clubs.
Whatever happened to your boy who was going to be tearing up the NFL with his special rugby skills? You remember, the one who compared himself to Deebo Samuel and claimed he was running the 40 at World Record times in training? Was Jim using his special insight again, watching how players get up off the deck to determine ability? 😂😂😂
Lads, I’m so bored of all this open discussion around pay in rugby. Think it started with Nick Easter’s now infamous comment in the changing rooms when England were booted out of our home WC in the group stages - and it’s never left since. A decade on and it’s now become commonplace and completely distracting everyone from what the game is all about. Not having a pop at you individually or the channel. You’re after clicks and views, and you have mine on this video. However, I’m sure I speak for many of the Northern Hemisphere’s rapidly declining fan-base when I let you know that I couldn’t give a flying fuck whether Curry, Genge or any of these lads are paid 20-25k a game, or £20. The more we glamourise salaries and bonuses (especially within a sport that ISN’T FINANCIALLY SUSTAINABLE, let’s remind ourselves of that), the less we are able to focus on captivating new audiences, re-building grass roots rugby in England and preserving the game for the future. These lads are playing for England and deserve to get paid for doing so - great. That should be the extent of the conversation. Let’s have half a brain cell and take the conversation elsewhere towards more pressing matters. Yours, An England fan.
Indeed. And all this talk of money doesn't exactly look great when the game is on its uppers financially everywhere outside France. I reckon most of English club rugby's financial problems could be solved if all the players took a 25% pay cut.
Why are Rugby and cricket players paid so little. I get in the everyday world that seems like alot but 150k per year for that level of sport seems low.

Yes definitely

My feeling is, people like Tom Willis will eventually go to France if he keeps being overlooked by England and he is not the only one.
Total waste of money the RFU are a waste of time they don't care just interested higher ticket prices

Not convinced
Fair enough..
@@Munkey92 thought he was absolutely world class in the six nations, potential player of the tournament but don’t think he’s been on that form since
Why pick 3 fly half’s in the list it’s splitting the camp there should have been a list of 25 players on the list

Cool story bro
Don’t have to get off the deck in NFL . 1.2 metres later …., 1st down !!!!! Zzzz Louis Reese-zamit has got an nfl contract
These contracts should not be about what you have done, but about what you are going to do in the near future right?
But past performance is the best indication of future performance.
@chichim2020 yes, with obvious consideration of age, injuries, general wear and tear
wow, incredible amounts of money if you add the match fees and image rights (especially in SA Rands!! 😭😭😂)
Great news!
Because e.g. A prop may not be used once the younger props come through.

English Rugby really doesn't make money
.not commercialised enough...no big stadia... clubs going bankrupt. It's not surprising really

The solution is to allow players to play abroad and England.
Spot on. All I could think about during this entire video.
Exactly- it changed everything for SA.
