Superb shots, Kris - the winner for us has to be that flyby at Chippenham! Watched at least a half-dozen times here and greatly enjoyed :-) Thanks as ever for your sterling work filming these great trains. Tim and Alex
Amazing footage as always Kris! The only thing I'm proud of for my troubles yesterday was my glorious silhouette of her in the evening but you've got a great collection of clips!
Nice video and especially liked the Doppler whistle effect! Took me back to my schooldays at the trackside at Wimbledon - albeit they were Bulleids and Pacifics not Castles!!
Re comments on this loco being "ugly", because "chimney sits too far forward, cylinders and driving wheels too far back, and all that superfluous copper and brass". The chimney is well fwd to clear the superheater header, and also it's a longer double chimney (which works better than the original single chimney). The outside cyls sit well aft because this is a 4-cyl loco with divided drive (inside cyls drive leading axle, outside cyls drive middle axle), with valve gear inside the frames driving both inside valves and outside valves (via the rocking lever which must go through the frames aft of the inside chests, and fwd of the outside chests). The big (6' 8 1/2") coupled/driving wheels are as close to one another and to the aft end of the bogie as it's possible to get. The only "superfluous" copper and brass is the band around the chimney, which we can surely allow on a top-link passenger loco. The brass name letters and number plates are easy to cast, stand out, don't rust, don't wear off, so were a good engineering choice at the time. So was the beaten brass safety valve bonnet, which does not need to be painted. There is a hard-nosed engineering reason for everything you see, except the curved ends to the running boards. This is not "arty" design, just very economical, elegant and powerful engineering, and herein lies the magic of the Churchward design tradition.
Always interesting your videos, and this one is no exception. Very enjoyable, well shot and edited.....also, the fact you use a tripod makes a lot of difference.
Let's examine that loco in profile: chimney sits too far forward, cylinders and driving wheels too far back, and all that superfluous copper and brass make it look a bit like a gypsy caravan. Performance on that short 8-coach train looked ok though. Just my personal opinion.
I think 'struck2soon' should be 'struckoffthelist' for suggesting that our 5043 is ugly! Why, sir! People have been shot at dawn for less! What does he expect, cow catchers, clanking bells and Casey Jones leaning out of the cab?
Ugly...don,t tell the locals in Swindon pubs that..you,ll be wearing your drink..or worse..![think you must have got a dislike for Class 70 on wrong page..!]

Superb coverage of the tour Kris, loved the departure shot from Bath, excellent throughout, thanks for sharing, it's alike, cheers...Bill
Great Video, Love the Bath Spa Departure, GWR Bark echoing around the valley. Lovely!

You managed to capture the excitement of steam trains. Terrific. Gerry
Well captured, Kris. At speed and close up. Very nice. Keith
Very imaginative view at Bath, didn't know you could get that good a shot from that side. You were lucky that it stopped in exactly the right spot.
You captured some excellent footage there , she looks superb
Earl is a beautiful engine and great footage
Excellent video brilliant shot at Chippenham
Excellent video, some interesting locations.

As a lad i remember these at Paddington Stn, always clean, a stunning looking loco.

UGLY!!! this would be one of the best presented locos in Britain
That is one very ugly engine, but your shots managed to make it look acceptable. Nicely filmed, well done.
ugly? the hell you been smoking?
I think you must have meant to post this on a video of a Class 70.
How dare you I'm a swindon man
