😭 this has made my entire day! I’ve been nervous to post this one because I knew it would be a little different 😅. I think some people will hate it! But it was genuinely so much fun doing something DIFFERENT! Trying to be creative! And just having some fun with it
Britt I don’t think I’ve ever commented on here (maybe I have), but my goodness your videos are top notch. Yes, the quality of the video is fantastic. But, it ultimately comes down to the quality of the presenter. I love your voice, your opinions, and the personality you insert into your reviews. Truly one of the best watch commentators on the internet and you absolutely deserve it. Also the type writer part was awesome!
I picked up a new quartz 44GS last month, and I love it. It's thin, beautiful, and always ready to grab and go. Finishing blows my Tudor and Omega out of the water.
Love the typewriter, the crisp typing sound, background music and visuals. You are a very vivid and entertaining persona, togheter with the production that just gets better and better, really makes for an interesting view.
I bought the amazing SLGA019 in love with the idea of spring drive, stayed in love once I bought it due to the finishing. The indices catch the light like diamonds it’s crazy. So glad to see you falling for GS!
At 0:08. That pink dial version on left is even more incredible looking when viewed in person. The dial looks beige or off white but when light reflects on an angle it has those pink snowflakes.
Thanks for video ! I lived in Japan for over seven years so you can imagine that I have a great appreciation for their watches and you will be right! In May 2024, my best friend and me decided that we needed to buy Gran seiko to celebrate our friendship and to say our goodbyes as he was moving to Hawaii and me to Europe. These two watches were brought to us and we were deeply conflicted on which one to pick. My friend went with the pink version, and I went with a pink version of my own, but not the same one. I opted for the spring drive version. The SBGA497G… it is a little bit bigger case diameter, but I needed to have the spring drive version. This one will probably be my last grand seiko! Is pure perfection
Hey, long time watcher but first time I'm making a comment. THANK YOU. Thank you for being authentic, honest and completely professional at the same time. I love Grand Seiko for their high tech and production level, their designs.. but the first the I saw one in real life.. I just didn't feel it.
Great video, Britt! I really enjoy your reviews. Just got my first GS, the SBGX261. I cannot stop staring at the watch. Thin, accurate like nothing else, and so refined and elegant! All that for a very attractive price around 2k. The bracelet is not that bad. I actually like it. I love the brand and the watch will become my daily besides a blue dial 126300. Keep up the good work!!
Agreed. The sweeping second hand is mesmerising on the wrist. Afterwards, you buy a hi beat movement with a dial config you like. Then thirdly, after you get your Rolex gmt, you buy one of their elegant gmt that does gmt in a different design
Hey Britt, long time viewer of your channel but first time commenter. I just wanted to say that I love when you try new things like the typewriter edit. I thought it was cool and fun. Anyway...I guess I used up my one comment for the year. Love your channel xx
Hey Britt, love your channel! Wanted to give you the quick tip that if you’re looking for a GS, importing from Japan (at least for me in the states) has been extremely favorable over the boutiques. Thank you for the vibes!
I finally made the move... bought the "Shunbun" on a recent trip to Japan. And in Ti, Spring Drive, that subtle white to pink dial, insanely beautiful. As I wear it since buying, the feel is simple perfection. The style is subtle. The accuracy is insane. And that white/pink - crazy perfect. First GS for me, but not the last... the green you highlighted is in my heart will go on category...
Got a SBGH243 (white dial, hi-beat, titanium), but with the 44GS case shape. And i absolutely love it. These look awesome as well. 👌 Especially the green one.
Hey, Britt. Amazing GS and amazing review. But is necessary to tell that the soundtracks of your shows are very cool! Congrats em regards from Brazil 🇧🇷
Great vid, Britt! Only problem with Spring Drive as your first Grand Seiko is you'll like it so much that eventually you'll be jonesing for one of their outstanding quartz models. And then your mind will be drifting to dual-impulse escapement hi-beats... It's a slippery slope (but a great ride!).
I don't own a grand Seiko with a spring drive (too expensive unfortunately), but I do own one of the few "simple" Seiko's with that movement. The sarr001 (snr037). I love this watch, I remain in love with the enamel dial and I can watch the smooth sweep of the second hand for hours. For me: Spring drive is a an absolute must have
Gringa appreciation post (I think it’s due) this video showcases how far you have came. I’ve been watching like over 2 years now (circa 40k subs) and the quality in your script writing, knowledge and general personality is top tier. I used to get annoyed with you saying GADA (Go anywhere, Do anything)… I mentioned it… you haven’t said it in like a year lol. That shows you not only listen to your audience, but you care enough to change. Cannot wait to see you get to 500k and beyond. My favourite channel 🫶🏾 p.s. James is awesome too 😂
Top notch video Britt. I will have one someday. But probably through a reseller after it’s been out a couple of years. I drive older cars and like older watches.
Great review of the Grand Seiko watches. I agree with many of your points about them, such as the thickness and wanting a high beat GS. Since the Grand Seikos are quite expensive, my Presage (Cocktail Time Manhattan) with its beautiful dial fits that GS-style niche for me. Also, love the typewriter bit, and that is a nice typewriter you have (it looks like a Unis tbm de Luxe, a Yugoslav version of the Olympia Traveller).
Even when it was easier for me I just could never push myself to pay thousands of dollars for a watch, and I’ve wasted many thousands of dollars in my lifetime. Today it is much harder, so I will leave buying out of it. These are beautiful watches and Seiko makes quality stuff. As for the bracelet I prefer leather bands anyway. I cannot see how a watch collector would not want one of these in her collection. I think the problem may simply be one of branding. Seiko covers such a wide price spectrum. I think that is one of the great qualities of the brand that should be celebrated. After all, time belongs to everyone. Wonderful videos by the way. So engaging. Cheers.
My dream watch is the GS SPGE295. I am a huge fan of GS and Seiko among a hole lot of other brand. Love your Chanel and your honest oppinion on watches.
Oh my goodness. This video with the typewriter proves how adorable you are. Awww. I am smiling a lot. And yes, that green with the soft metal around it is the most beautiful face I have seen as well. Wow. Pink probably would be more useful though. One needs this and a quirky Spring Drive i guess. It’s this now or a small date SeaQ or i wait and get gold JLC square jobber
My one and done GS spring drive cherry blossom is perfect. I understand the disikes, but it's not a problem. 1st swapped out the bracelet for a premium leather strap that looks super sofisticated and smart 2nd price is not a problem. You can get a really good discount from some GS ADs brand new! 3rd finally Spring drive is perfectly smooth and memorising ❤
Wow, your photography and gfx are really leveling up! I always love trying on a GS or just looking at them, but I think I'd drop mine and then die inside, thinking of the craftsmen whose month I just wasted lol. I try to only buy watches I'll wear frequently without care.
I agree with all you said. Grand Seiko dials are exceptional! I would pay for a Spring Drive before a Rolex. "Ooo Spring Drive me baby!" (Sorry I couldn't resist.)
Love the Hi beat movement, love the absense of a power reserve wart on the dial, not mad about the bracelets just like everyone else. Pre owned GS is the way to go, preferably from Japan.
GS still hasn't gotten the message from the market about the dial-side power reserve meter: DO NOT WANT. It's the biggest reason I have no interest in the majority of Spring Drive watches.
I recently purchased the Seiko Classic Series Shiro-Iro Presage, and I must say, it’s an absolute beauty. Its minimalist design fits perfectly with my skin tone, personality, and, importantly, my budget. While at the store, I had the chance to check out the Grand Seiko 38mm with a pink dial, which arrived this week. It’s an exceptional piece-stunning and elegantly crafted. I’d be thrilled to wear and own one, but the price is undeniably steep. That said, I would wholeheartedly recommend it, even for men. The pink dial is stylish and versatile, and I’d have no hesitation or shame wearing it proudly. A truly remarkable timepiece!
Great video. Echoes some of my early concerns. I was on the fence for a long time and it all felt kinda felt lackluster. But did buy one and after one week in the wrist it had grown on me and now I'd never let it go. The lightness in the titanium makes up for the lack of heft or tapered bracelet. And the two half links do get you a long way. Wears far more comfortable than my 124270 or OP36mm. Went for the SGBM415 spring drive but looking into a High beat now (the pink one). From a price point if you compare the finish and the movement with other watches in the same segment it is fairly priced. But(!), to your point never spend the money if you don't really want it.
Thanks for the review. I really like that green dial one. The 62gs case is special. Used to have the sbga413, same case ,but traded it in on another GS. I have a high beat GS, but I like the spring drive better.
I agree with the two issues about GS. With that, the sky flake is actually such an awesome choice from the brand! No bracelet to deal with and the thickness is not very noticeable, plus that gorgeous dial is to die for!
Love GS, currently wearing the SBGJ255 on an olive nato. such an awesome wearing experience. My biggest complaint is also the bracelets, no micro adjust and little to no taper are all too common. In my opinion, I've started to notice the bracelet also takes away from the case design. An example is the 44GS case, the lugs and the end link of the bracelet melds together making the case lines blur. Having the 44GS case on strap/nato or straight end mesh bring out the case/lug lines changing the whole wearing experience.
Britt, I got my GS SBGA413G Shunbun last year and am in love with it. It the Spring Drive model not the Hi Beat. Take a look at it. It's cheaper that Hi Beat models.
pretty much agree with everything you said Britt, one thing I would add, and it's a "once you see it, you cant unsee it" type of issue: look at the finish on the titanium end links, they have almost a tarnished look as if they haven't uniformly brushed/polished the sides of the end links - I've seen this defect on a titanium watch my dad bought, and for what you're paying, that's NOT luxury level finishing - I would like to think this fault is just a one off, but BOTH models you reviewed have it!
Funny thing, I agree with all the likes and dislikes 😂 When buying a GS I want a spring drive: Shunbun. As we had a cherry blossom tree in our garden back home when I was litlle, and now we have three in the street where we live.
I own a spring drive that was gifted to me. Believe me when I say that I didn't turn my nose up at receiving it. It's a keeper for sure. One full link on each side was removed and it fits like a charm. Also came with a strap. I'm lucky I guess. Happy watch collecting to all....
Britt, go vintage! Just picked up a 5646 that I am absolutely in love with. I love the Kanji date functionality. Also, you can get in for around $1k. I will warn you though….once you start googling these watches you will be obsessed. You’ve been warned.
Ffs Britt, did you have to add that hilarious text-to-speach cut (2:36)?! 😀😂 "Titanium? Daddy likey" 🤣 (I genuinely spat out my tea watching it this afternoon bahahaha). Awesome vid, so glad you enjoyed these GS pieces and gave an excellent overview and opinion on them. Hopefully you'll add one into your collection shortly!
I’m in total agreement with you Britt, love and admire GS for all the aforementioned reasons but haven’t quite gotten to point that I would splash out on one as yet. Just like yourself, maybe sometime in the near future. Until then keeping pumping out these awesome videos. Daddy Likey…
I think you need one Hi Beat and one Spring Drive. That is my plan- have the Shun Bun and eyeing the Tentagraph. That will satisfy my Grand Seiko desires!
I have my one and only GS. SBGV205 Quartz F82. I jumped to buy at 32% of retail with stickers still on. I love it. I just can't afford the MRP's of anything new these days. Except I'm planning the Pitzmann Celebration right now. :) P.s. Be ready to have lots of scratches. They will come immediately.
Agree completely with you and I've had the same experience so far and haven't purchased. However I think that will change - we are visiting Japan later this year for the first time and an SBGY007 Omiwatari is calling my name - The Omiwatari proportions are so much nicer especially how thin it is. They seem to be available new for £4k in Japan which is a lot more palatable than £7800 ....
GS are great, Ive owned a few and currently I have two in my small collection. The niggles I have with GS though is that there are sooooo many that there is always an upgrade to be made. This makes it slightly tiresome and I end up selling quite soon after buying. Otherwise theyre great, as I said.
I had the Spring-Drive equipped SBGA415, Winter. It also has the titanium case, so it’s super light. Easily the most accurate watch in my collection. The smooth sweep seconds hand was mesmerizing. The weakest part of the watch was the bracelet; I can’t understand why GS continues to open themselves up to so much justifiable criticism by refusing to update their bracelets to allow micro adjustment. In any event I had it for a few years, then sold it. While I loved the quality and the amazing movement, I just didn’t wear it enough.
I really think they should make the heated blue second hand a consistent feature on all their watches, and something needs to be done about the hours and minute hands to mke them more distinguishable from one another at a glance.
I've owned my GS SBGA493 "Katana" (limited to just 500) for about a year and a half now. I agree that for me the Spring Drive was the thing that I just had to have. You want a smooth second-hand sweep? This one makes you think you're looking at an electric clock, which isn't too far from the truth, plus the accuracy is off the charts. The bracelet does taper, although only from 19mm to 18mm. With a 7" wrist, I was able to remove the proper set of links (full and half-size) to get a perfect fit. The Spring Drive models come in a great selection of dial colors and textures, so I'm sure you will find one to your liking. Welcome to the club (cult?) !
Having owned GS and they tick all of the boxes for finishing, technical mastery, etc. For me, the challenge has been they feel too clinical and that part of their watches grazes the line of passion, but doesn't hit the bullseye. That being said, there is almost no doubt I'll buy another one in the future and hold onto it for a year or two then send it on its merry way for the same reasons.
Unpopular opinion: I prefer bracelets that don't taper, especially on sub-40mm watches. Love GS, looking forward to a bracelet upgrade with on-the-fly clasp adjustment. Love you too Britt, of course😘
Also fwiw the new slgw003 would satisfy a few of your concerns - still beautiful dial with a spring drive, thinner case, and on leather so no lack of taper concern. Doesn’t solve the price and it fact makes that problem worse, but we can’t have everything 🤷♂️
@@Koishishibaman Yes, I agree, it is quite special with a tatami dial and only GS with anniversary text written on the haute. I bought it new from an AD, compared both and preferred 111 due to its bracelet and slightly different dial. Of course, the 109 price difference was too much to justify it as well. Enjoy your watch! A link to a video on it th-cam.com/video/IQHRcgshjf4/w-d-xo.html
@AJHall-y4z thanks for the video. Haha. I didn't know about the lettering on the haute. That is very cool! Another couple of cool ones are the sbgx033, or 035. Very different ones. Very reasonable, but stunning
@@Koishishibaman The beauty of the SBGA111 dial is that it shows different features and looks different at various angles and light. Particularly as you mentioned the hidden lion which only shows up at a certain angle. Subtle and mesmerizing. Thank you for sharing SBGX033 and 35, both are amazing, very different and unusual for GS design. I like the 035 better because the positions of 6 and 12 on the black dial look so cool. Not too many know about the haute lettering since it is mostly common in Rolex but not on GS. To my knowledge, SBGA109 and 111 are the only GS with such lettering.
I am an ‘accuracy snob’ so it’s high accuracy quartz for me. I love my two Grand Seiko 9f quartz watches. Plenty of gears, jewels, 100+ parts, and even a hairspring, for any mechanical watch snob. My bracelet tapers from 20mm to 18mm. Almost all GS bracelets are tapered. I don’t know why Brit says they don’t. Maybe she wants it to taper to a steel wire.
Wearing my Grand Seiko Tentagraph right now... on my 7.25" wrist... also loving my GS Snowflake Spring Drive. So the answer is YES... Grand Seiko are lovely watches (and I own Rolex & Omega)
I have the pleasure of owning a SLGH005. Love it to pieces. The dial is stunning. The bracelet gets a ton of hate, until you own a GS with one. The bracelet is fantastic. Don’t even get me started with the movement….
Zaratsu polishing is amazing but one major downside is that it is a massive scratch magnet. To be more accurate it scratches like normal but because of the high mirror finish they appear much more prominent and you can see ALL the scratches.
I got my self SBGH341, the light pink dial pairs well for both male and female. The light pink become white dial under strong sun light and change to between white and light pink in the room and different viewing angle. You need to really hold and wear the watch to experience the color change.
Buying a Grand Seiko at 1:26. They also make great GMT watches in various dial colors like red, green, cream, blue, and aqua marine. And the ADs will sell you the watch that day. No wait lists and games like other watch brands play with customers.
I hear you. My first GS was a spring drive. But.... This movement blows omega's coaxial movement out of the water. Grand Seiko brings the same friction-free escapement technology to the table but does it in a more reliable more efficient way. It might just be the most technologically advanced mass-produced mechanical movement. Except Spring Drive.
I lied. Ink ribbons are crazy cheap.
You have a type writer? Now you can write F1 complaints to the FIA in true British fashion. 🤣

I want one so bad. But I don't want to pay that price. I'm definitely in love. But $7000? Yeah f**k that noise.
One word summary of the GS: Gorgeous.
Two word summary: Absolutely Gorgeous.
Three words: absolutely bloody gorgeous
Four words: absolutely bloody f’n gorgeous!

@boigahboi7074 I edited my comment. You very well may be correct! Mines a 44GS.
Ah, yes! Thanks for coming back and enjoy your beautiful new watch.
@@WatchesAndAudio Agreed, GS quartz models are nice and likely the best pick 👌 Definitely to prefer over the chunky clunky mechanical GS movements

pretty much agree with everything you said Britt, one thing I would add, and it's a "once you see it, you cant unsee it" type of issue: look at the finish on the titanium end links, they have almost a tarnished look as if they haven't uniformly brushed/polished the sides of the end links - I've seen this defect on a titanium watch my dad bought, and for what you're paying, that's NOT luxury level finishing - I would like to think this fault is just a one off, but BOTH models you reviewed have it!
well this was a lovely video Britt!
Funny thing, I agree with all the likes and dislikes 😂
When buying a GS I want a spring drive: Shunbun.
As we had a cherry blossom tree in our garden back home when I was litlle, and now we have three in the street where we live.
was wondering the same. I mean it isn't as PINK as this watch...but essentially is the spring drive version?
I own a spring drive that was gifted to me. Believe me when I say that I didn't turn my nose up at receiving it. It's a keeper for sure. One full link on each side was removed and it fits like a charm. Also came with a strap. I'm lucky I guess.
Happy watch collecting to all....
I love your type writer. Beautiful touch...
The hands, dial & sweep sell this beauty. Thanks Britt
Britt, go vintage! Just picked up a 5646 that I am absolutely in love with. I love the Kanji date functionality. Also, you can get in for around $1k. I will warn you though….once you start googling these watches you will be obsessed. You’ve been warned.
I got the 341 in Osaka last year. Love it.
Ffs Britt, did you have to add that hilarious text-to-speach cut (2:36)?! 😀😂
"Titanium? Daddy likey" 🤣
(I genuinely spat out my tea watching it this afternoon bahahaha).
Awesome vid, so glad you enjoyed these GS pieces and gave an excellent overview and opinion on them. Hopefully you'll add one into your collection shortly!
The subtle colors are wonderful.
The first rule of Grand Seiko Club is we don’t talk about Grand Seiko Club. Bonus points for the typewriter.
Beautiful,! Great photography too
I agreed. I love the 38mm but please Spring Drive and I will wait for their new bracelet as GS should update it!
Lmao that text to speak was awesome! Great video Britt!
You should check SBGA413, similar case with spring drive movement and cherry blossom dial
I swear to God you really need to buy a microscope along with any Grand Seiko just to fully appreciate this watch.
For some, their grail watch is (insert Swiss made brand here) mine is a Geand Seiko Tokyo Lion 44 mm. 😍🥰
Finally, someone is talking about Grand Seiko
That Homer Marge Swatch dial is exquisite
I had the Spring-Drive equipped SBGA415, Winter. It also has the titanium case, so it’s super light. Easily the most accurate watch in my collection. The smooth sweep seconds hand was mesmerizing. The weakest part of the watch was the bracelet; I can’t understand why GS continues to open themselves up to so much justifiable criticism by refusing to update their bracelets to allow micro adjustment. In any event I had it for a few years, then sold it. While I loved the quality and the amazing movement, I just didn’t wear it enough.
If I was going to buy a GS it would have to be a spring drive. 😍
The typewriter scene is awesome!
Im waiting for a GS that has the power reserve on the back, larger hour hand like the slg models and quick adjust. Fingers crossed that happens.
Stunningly classic looking watch
Unpopular opinion: I prefer bracelets that don't taper, especially on sub-40mm watches.
Love GS, looking forward to a bracelet upgrade with on-the-fly clasp adjustment.
Love you too Britt, of course😘
Yeah ok put a Spring Drive movement in and i´m all sold. Perfect dimensions for me awesome dials and GS finishing ❤
I have a definite soft spot for the 62GS case and bracelet but really, would like it with a 9F quartz movement.
Also fwiw the new slgw003 would satisfy a few of your concerns - still beautiful dial with a spring drive, thinner case, and on leather so no lack of taper concern. Doesn’t solve the price and it fact makes that problem worse, but we can’t have everything 🤷♂️
Love that green dial on the Grand Seiko. It reminds me of the colour of moldavite.
Go with the Spring Drive, you would not be disappointed. I have SBGA111 and love it. Thanks for another lovely video.
That is a very special sd. I have that one. That dial is so pretty......and the lion❤
Wanted the sbga109,but couldn't find one in good shape. Plus the price.
Maybe she wants it to taper to a steel wire.
if i bought a new GS I would get one with the 9S movement. its so pretty
I am with you Britt. If GS could put a Spring Drive in this case, I would give them all my money
Just get the high beat
@ it’s great, for sure. But I would really like a Spring Drive 😀
It is actually available, SBGA413
@ but that one is 40mm. I’ve tried on and it’s a little too large for my wrist
I find the hi beat dials are incredible, but I wish they had these dials with their spring drive movements! 😢
I agree. If you're going to get one Grand Seiko, and a whole collection of Swiss watches, you gotta get the Spring Drive. Nobody else can do it.
I agree, if I want one GS, I want a titanium spring drive
The SLGW003 is the one Grand Seiko that seems the perfect fit! 38mm wide and under 10mm tall! Plus the dial, case and movement look sublime! 🤍
They are nice. You can't go wrong with any.
Except Spring Drive.
new 39 mm tag heuer purple glassbox chronograph. Never considered this brand now I want this
