Once a year these videos explode in popularity and we all know why...
Good luck to everyone for the AP World exam
Ari yeah and I have to use two times speed because I have just now started studying when the test is in three days.
Elijah Vasquez Good luck and may you experience a miraculous enlightenment also you only have around 15 hours left and even in two times speed it takes 4 hours.
Skipped the sixth grade, I hope you do good though
Nah I just got a test
Ayeeee! Same pfp!
My new goal for quarantine now is to get to know all world history in detail I'm starting with this, wish me luck!

John: *Rants about elephant pregnancy and 99 cent double cheeseburgers*
yup. Is this the way all of the videos of this series are?
The intro was fire. Very empowering "Everything.. everything.. will be on it."
I know right, so pay attention!
That intro has helped me get so many people into this series. "Look, if you're not into it after just one minute, we can put something else on."
Two hours later...
not in 2020.
*One thing will be on it and you wont know what it is*
At least my AP world textbook has enough pages to dry my tears...

Why do people dislike crash course videos? 😐 these guys just provide good information with a sense of humor. Love what you’re doing keep up the great work
Forget exams anyone watch this for pleasure?
Markie Winters Indeed! This is interesting stuff. =D
Markie Winters For sure! Plus, it beats getting my ass handed to me in Dota...
Markie Winters YESSSSS!!!!!
It's very interesting, and fun to watch!
I get some funny looks in history class for knowing how trade between the Venetians and the Byzantines helped start the Renaissance, though! XD
Markie Winters on the journey through all of them for fun as of this moment :D
Markie Winters I have never watched it for school, only ever for entertainment.
to all my fellow AP students,
good luck on your test

tbh i never took any ap history classes or used crash course as a student, but i rewatch these all the time just because i love them. i love john's delivery, i love the thought bubbles, i love the way things are covered :^)
Grew up watching this. To see the introduction of one of my most formative video series ring just as true today is insane.
Anybody else that decided to watch all of world history just now?
my second time...
None of the ancient people, and not appropriated the invention of agriculture or metallurgy - they say that knowledge gave the gods - that people were fed the gods, who built the pyramids - Here is the real "Crash Course World History"
My third...
***** Yessss
oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh
That opening statement about the test is one of my favorite quotes in the whole world and the way John delivers it is AMAZING, but what makes it better is the way he casually and nonchalantly just finishes it with "I know right?" 😂
How did I not know this video series existed?
I am out of school and people are generally shocked by how little knowledge or even half-knowledge I have about basic history stuff and tbh, I have known this would become a problem sooner or later but it was getting a more and more severe case of "..and at this point I'm too afraid to ask." because while it did shock them, nobody ever really told me where to look to _learn_ the stuff my knowledge was so obviously lacking.
It's almost 3 am right now, but I will come back to this with a notebook and coloured pencils and I will pretend I'm a student again and _get to learn_ again and I'm honestly looking forward to it.
Thank you John and everybody who helped making this!

I have three degrees in history and still learn a ton from these videos. Most history programmes in my country encourage honing in on one very small geographical area and/or time period - especially at graduate level. However, I think having a broader view is essential if you want to be a great historian (and human being), and I always encourage it in anyone starting out in this field of study :)
“Maybe it’s because they needed more grains for alcohol!”
*sips in quarantine* thank you agricultural revolution!
I learn more from you than my teachers.
True, though to be fair, most of my teachers were wrong about absolutely everything.
SLagonia But we needed them to learn from it. Mathematics did not come naturally to me. So I learned their way as well as mine. That is an advantage IF you can learn how to stop judging other illusions. We all do the best we can at any given moment. And in order to know it all we need international business experience as well as a degree in economics and accounting.
Who else wishes that history teachers would, you know, actually teach like he does.
You mean with scripts and editing and secret compartments and cheeseburgers?
Brian McHaney yeah. id enjoy that

W History: GREEN REVOLUTION!
Ikr I'm in AP HuGe and we have the AP final in like 3 hours :|
It's been over 4 years since I took AP World but I come here every once in a while to reminisce. The day of the exam, many of us students overpopulated a teacher's room because he promised to bring donuts for exam day. And we just munched on those donuts, in a dark classroom dimly lit by a small window with the projector playing "the history of the entire world i guess." But we barely paid attention, because small chatter filled the room, and everyone was anxious for the big day.
Looking back, I felt like I was suffering, but now I carry a fond memory of a time where I was challenged to learn; now I take fulfillment in this small-souled vanity. I miss my classmates and wish the best for them (and wish the best for whoever's reading this, too)
It really is great to see that a youtube channel dedicated to educating people has over 1 million subscribers and almost every single one of its videos getting over half a million views.

This was probably the best way to start the series. Agriculture started everything.
Watching because the Agriculture Revolution is fascinating. I finished school years ago.
Every couple months I come back and watch the "about the test" speech to re-motivate myself, and the moment he says " I know right, so pay attention" never fails to excite me. Thanks for the continued inspiration, John Green
how do you write such great speeches at beginning and end of each video
And the open letter.

Mark Rainey by not taking everything other than my favored concept as an attack on my favored concept.
By looking at the world in a neutral light and not dissing everyone unlike you
The world isn't neutral, it is split into classes with antagonistic interests. John's worship of Capital is, measurably, a negative force in his work.
