That intro has helped me get so many people into this series. "Look, if you're not into it after just one minute, we can put something else on." Two hours later...
Why do people dislike crash course videos? 😐 these guys just provide good information with a sense of humor. Love what you’re doing keep up the great work
Markie Winters YESSSSS!!!!! It's very interesting, and fun to watch! I get some funny looks in history class for knowing how trade between the Venetians and the Byzantines helped start the Renaissance, though! XD
tbh i never took any ap history classes or used crash course as a student, but i rewatch these all the time just because i love them. i love john's delivery, i love the thought bubbles, i love the way things are covered :^)
That opening statement about the test is one of my favorite quotes in the whole world and the way John delivers it is AMAZING, but what makes it better is the way he casually and nonchalantly just finishes it with "I know right?" 😂
"The test will last your entire life and it will comprise of the millions of decisions that when taken together makes your life yours and everything - everything - will be on it." "I know, right? So pay attention!" Cracks me up every time xD
This series has made me a better person. Before watching this series back in. 2015 I was one of those "History is boring" and now my dream job is to become history teachers. Realizing that we are all a product of history was one of the biggest steps to growing up in my life
How did I not know this video series existed? I am out of school and people are generally shocked by how little knowledge or even half-knowledge I have about basic history stuff and tbh, I have known this would become a problem sooner or later but it was getting a more and more severe case of "..and at this point I'm too afraid to ask." because while it did shock them, nobody ever really told me where to look to _learn_ the stuff my knowledge was so obviously lacking. It's almost 3 am right now, but I will come back to this with a notebook and coloured pencils and I will pretend I'm a student again and _get to learn_ again and I'm honestly looking forward to it. Thank you John and everybody who helped making this! DFTBA 💜
I love that everyone in the comments is cramming for the AP World exam tomorrow, because it makes me feel a lot better about the fact that I myself am doing the exact same thing. Let's do this!
I love that these videos exist. They are so helpful. I didn't get a great education growing up (religious homeschool with a mentally ill parent) so I am learning a lot now in my 30s to make up for it.
None of the ancient people, and not appropriated the invention of agriculture or metallurgy - they say that knowledge gave the gods - that people were fed the gods, who built the pyramids - Here is the real "Crash Course World History"
"History reminds us that revolutions are not events so much as they are processes; that for tens of thousands of years people have been making decisions that irrevocably shaped the world that we live in today. Just as today we are making subtle, irrevocable decisions that people of the future will remember as revolutions." John Green and the rest of the script team, 2012 everyone. We've been living in the revolution lads.
It really is great to see that a youtube channel dedicated to educating people has over 1 million subscribers and almost every single one of its videos getting over half a million views.
I have three degrees in history and still learn a ton from these videos. Most history programmes in my country encourage honing in on one very small geographical area and/or time period - especially at graduate level. However, I think having a broader view is essential if you want to be a great historian (and human being), and I always encourage it in anyone starting out in this field of study :)
It's been over 4 years since I took AP World but I come here every once in a while to reminisce. The day of the exam, many of us students overpopulated a teacher's room because he promised to bring donuts for exam day. And we just munched on those donuts, in a dark classroom dimly lit by a small window with the projector playing "the history of the entire world i guess." But we barely paid attention, because small chatter filled the room, and everyone was anxious for the big day. Looking back, I felt like I was suffering, but now I carry a fond memory of a time where I was challenged to learn; now I take fulfillment in this small-souled vanity. I miss my classmates and wish the best for them (and wish the best for whoever's reading this, too)
Every couple months I come back and watch the "about the test" speech to re-motivate myself, and the moment he says " I know right, so pay attention" never fails to excite me. Thanks for the continued inspiration, John Green
I've probably watched World History, as a whole, half a dozen times, and the beginning of this episode gets me every time. "And everything, EVERYTHING, will be on it."
2012 wow ten years ago I was starting freshman year of hs. These videos seemed like they were made for teens just like me at the time. They got me through so many papers and projects or when it felt I really just had to teach these things to myself. Thank you for all the time, energy and resources it took to make these videos because y’all taught a generation of kids when it seemed like the school system couldn’t. 💗
remember when this show was the first on youtube to have simple, engaging infograhics that completely set the tone for other educational channels? crash course was there first 💚💚💚 love you john, you nut
Dear CrashCourse, I am a student from Kyrgyzstan, a former Soviet Union country, and I really enjoyed watching CrashCourse videos. I would love to share them with all people in my country, but the overwhelming majority of Kyrgyz people does not speak English. With my friends I wanted to join, translate and dub the World History course so that pupils and students from all over our small country could watch those videos and educate themselves. Maybe, some schools will agree to show them as well. I am writing this email to ask your permission to translate your courses and share them on TH-cam. We are not going to monetise it or sell the videos, we simply want to make your amazing works open for more people, and for Kyrgyz children and youth particularly. Kind regards, Azamat Omuraliev
Have you tried emailing him or message him through social media? He might see it if you do it there. Also, I admire your dedication to spread this knowledge to your fellow citizens.
I have watched this serious multiple times, I have to thank all of crashcourse, I'm sorry I've never contributed to the great work you do, but with what you have done I'm sure myself and many others have had the entertaining perfectly portioned episodes that helped with knowledge of every kind* Thank you.
I think from now on, no matter how little it actually connects to the point at hand, I will respond to generalizations with "Unless you are the mongols."

Amanda Sharkey woo! Thank you! Bless all y'all's hearts
Please bring back CrashCourse World History!
And the binge begins
Thank you Mr. R for showing me this series. It teaches history and throws in a bit of humor as well. Not only am I learning and studying, I’m smiling, too.
Best Crash Course ever! Totally set the scene for everything to come. Love the original series, so much more fun!
re-watching the whole series to cram for the AP this thursday

+Landy L Good luck to you as well!! I hope you do well on the test!!!
i just have this in the background when i write, i have technically watched crash course like 32 times
OML saaaaame dude
How can you stomach the liberalism?
Mark Rainey by not taking everything other than my favored concept as an attack on my favored concept.
By looking at the world in a neutral light and not dissing everyone unlike you
The world isn't neutral, it is split into classes with antagonistic interests. John's worship of Capital is, measurably, a negative force in his work.
This series has become a strange comfort for me. I hope this never gets deleted
And the crash course marathon begins 5️⃣👌🏻👌🏻😩😩
i love how everyone's been saying they've been cramming the entire week and then there's people like us... 😪😪👌🏼👌🏼
