    Thanks for sharing! The mechanism close up pics/video were great and you covered most details necessary for a successful replacement by an average DIYer. I replaced mine today with an OEM Motorcraft unit (part # (SW-6953) or (6L3Z-25218A42-AA) and it looked identical.

    2003 F350 application.!! Thanks for the video. Very helpful, but I eliminated the steps of removing the locking mechanism (3 screws) and outside door handle. With a little bit of effort, I was able to remove the actuator. It took a bit of patience, and several screwdrivers, but it can be done. Appreciated the help.

    What made you determine it was the actuator? My front doors will not lock or unlock via power buttons or key fob but will work manually. Already tried a new power switch and didnt fix issue. Is this what i need to look into next?

    Oh and the best part of it all?? REPLACING THE ACTUATOR DID NOTHING TO FIX PROBLEM.
    All that I managed to accomplish was wasting 20 bucks, breaking plastic clips and making the door be unable to open from the inside now. It will unlock but it won't lock. Exactly the way it was before I made the horrible mistake of trying to do this myself.
    That was my rear driver door. My passanger front door sometimes unlocks and sometimes it doesn't, I have to press the unlock button 3 times quickly and when I'm lucky the stick moves up far enough to be unlocked, but it doesn't always work.
    If anybody has any suggestions I'd love to hear them, causing reading "wow this was so easy my grandma was able to do it" comments is really starting to make me rage.

    If you have a 2001 F250, I implore you, DO NOT TRY TO DO THIS. It is a f******g NIGHTMARE. Every stupid plastic clip, EVERY SINGLE ONE takes 30-40 minutes of prying, painful hand positions, and scraping yourself. Unplugging the plugs takes 25 minutes of jostling and positioning, including probably breaking one of the clips. Whoever designed this should be boiled in oil and have their fat sold for soap. Seriously, just have a shop do it. Your sanity will thank you.

    Question: My Ford F 250 Crew Cab has a rear door in which the interior handle and my newly installed exterior door handle don't open the door. I need to troubleshoot. The interior door open pull lock doesn't stay put and thus can't open the door. Is it just the actuator? I have power locks and the rears haven't worked in years. Ford says it has a newer actuator but needs to be spiced to existing wires. Your thoughts.

    • @DillysADV
      @DillysADV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you referring to the one that goes to the exterior handle? if so you rotate it until the clip lines up with the gap (it is a little tricky to see) and then it should slide out.. careful about bending it, that may mean that there is a clip that has not released properly. if you need to send me a pic on facebook and I can guide you better.. facebook.com/DILLYSADV

      I don't but, I did have that problem.. It turned out to be the window switch. amzn.to/2us7ks1 they are a little spendy but totally worth it.. test it with a basic multi meter when it is not working by checking the power at the window motor. I do have footage of what when wrong on my failed hard drive so once it is recovered, I'll get it posted and maybe go into detail on how to test.. thanks for coming by.

      James Johnson. My 2000 F150 had window issues and I don't think they're much different than the 2000 style Super Duty window motors try smacking it with a wrench or screwdriver in and see if it frees up the window motor

  • @kylerenneberg3069

    Why did you remove all of that to take out the Locking actuator? All you have to do is take off the door panel reach your hand back in there disconnect the two locking arms disconnect the wire from the actuator and then you something small like a small flat head to release the actuators locking clip no need to take the door handle off

    • @DillysADV
      @DillysADV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are possibly very correct.. part of it is to show more of what is being done as well as seeing what I was doing.. 2 nuts to get the handle out was not a biggie.. if you did this for a living.. which ever way is faster or just works for the tech works.. thanks for sharing, now I am going to have to go try it to compare...
